Nobody is saying he should've stayed, that's a strawman. The guys we got back are trash.

Sorry, poor wording on my part, I didnt mean to suggest anyone was saying Sacha should stay. I guess my point was, we dont have a lot of holes on this squad, so once the team was committed to moving Sacha, Im ok with them getting projects back.

And, Im ok if those projects cost us an early season game or two because Marsch is focusing on CCL and makes a mistake by not giving a different USL CB a shot.

Not great that we got leftovers, but each have an upside kinda. And they're not here on exorbitant contracts either. They are both salvageable, imo.

And we paid for the privilege of picking up 2 potentially salvageable projects. Oh well.

Did anyone ever track down an actual number on the allocation money being offered for Kljestan?

Talk to me in September.

October 29.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

There are only 34 league matches. In effect, we blew two for a shot at the CL finals, which in effect, we also blew. Lets hope that we dont miss a playoff spot by a point or two. Or a home seeding by finishing 5th or 6th. Or home advantage by winding up 3rd or 4th. Or miss a CL spot by finishing 2nd, or a Shield by a point.
6 dropped points can mean a lot, come October 28th. Metro have finished between 50 and 60 points over the past 6 seasons.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

The assumption in the RSL game is that Petke would have had his team play the same way the entire match if Rivas hadn't given up the penalty.  That happened so early in the match that RSL was able to bunker and defend.  If RSL hadn't scored on that gift and actually played soccer, trying to score and win, do we think our B Team would have beaten Mike's A Team?

No one like giving up points, but when you're in CCL or the US Open you have to prioritize.  You just hope your coach prioritizes resting the right players for CCL, like your DP attacking mid.

We have a tendency to judge trade and roster moves way too early (Dax and BWP come to mind). Its way to early to judge. Heck, the payoff on Rivas and Redding might not even come this season (on the other hand, it may never come).

And to the poster who complained about Rivas penalty costing us in Utah, I bet you werent complaining about Rivas after the Portland game.

Of course, but when you do so, you expect a better performance in the favored competition.

What would have been better, would be Rivas coming back from that early fiasco, to score one and make another in the same game!
Last night, Wilmer Flores, arguably out of position as back-up first baseman, could not handle a bounced throw from the shortstop, allowing two runs to score, costing the Mets the lead and Sydergaard a chance at a W.
In B9, Wilmer hits a walk-off home run.

Small note: Never made it to extras. Bottom of 9th was Wilmers HR. Also, he is the #2 at 1B behind Gonzalez.

That said, all valid points.

Of course, but when you do so, you expect a better performance in the favored competition.

Players were rested in the RSL game after a 3-1 win against Tijuana at home a few days earlier.  So, prioritizing CCL worked there.

Then the rested players in the Orlando match went and were a Tyler Adams' mistake away from getting a draw away at Chivas.  Can't argue prioritizing CCL worked for that game, but if we didn't, the result could have been worse.  We at least came home with a chance.

The bigger problem there was Marsch didn't rest the right guy, Kaku, in Orlando.

There is always a chance. Juve scored 3 away goals at Real Madrid, before that injury time PK.

The bigger problem there was Marsch didn't rest the right guy, Kaku, in Orlando.

No argument there.

He scored a couple of goals against a garbage team, without him we only win the game 2-0. There's a reason the Orlando fans were throwing babies in the air in celebration after they sent him to us.
Let's Go Buffalo!!!
