i think his appropriate level is upper Championship. and i think that's a perfectly fine level for US players. quite possible that Ream, despite him being an experienced player in England, is not up to snuff for the national team. and iirc, he wasn't always great for country either.

Id take Boyd. Hard working quick true winger. Can cross very well, break down a defender and finish plays. But I think hes returning to Spain from a successful transfer in Turkey so...dont think hed be jazzed about leaving Europe.

Ream was never mean enough for USMNT level. He's a finesse defender but at a certain point you need to be willing and able to knock someone on their ass.

In the Championship in a season that ended 13 months ago. He was absolutely horrible for them in the Premier League. Good for a high-percentage chance at least once a game.

He's not getting any younger, either.

He did stick a few opponents.
Hence the You Got Reamed chant.

I always thought that Ream chant was just because it sounded cool.

this is what i remember about Tim Ream. at the time, his passing skills as a CB were great, but never remember him for being physical, neither him or Holgersson or Rafa or Keel.

Marcus Holgersson was the most underrated Red Bull of all time and I'm willing to die on this hill. Petke's biggest mistake as a coach was replacing him with Armando just because Armando knew kung fu and was willing to use it.

the dude was 6'5" and cost $250k in 2012. he wasn't physical, despite being 6'5", his personality lacked the mean streak talked about above in this thread, and if you saw him at the meet and greet at chelsea piers, he looked as disinterested as Eddie Gaven when he said "i'm glad my work day is over at 12pm".

Holgersson was awful in the beginning. After coming off his extended benching, he did become one of my favorite players.
