and does the player have to come from europe ?

judging from Soler's acquisition from outside of the league, most likely not.

looks like this year will be no different. i've always said, no CAM, no cup and it looks like this year's red bulls will prove me right again. sigh.

Well, unless and until there's a reason to think otherwise I'm afraid you're right.

As in other areas of life, just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do it. Many of us feel RB would be better served with TH14 playing higher up, rather than being forced to make creative passes from midfield (which, admittedly, he does very well).

I bet henry's goal production will drop big time the first few months of the season just bc he will be forced to drop back and create. Teemu and rafa dont get within 40 hards of the opponent's goal. This is a huge issue.

We haven't had an attacking mid since Amado left in 06.

Don't forget DeRo, although its tough to say that we really actually had him. Let's be honest though, if Hans runs a 4-3-3, we'll be a whole lot better off. The traditional 4-4-2 just won't work for us with the personnel. Not enough attacking punch up the middle with Tainio and Rafa. Our attack has always been best down the wings, why not just go all in down the sidelines and just use the center of the field for possession?

there doesnt have to be a cam to win. but there does have to be creative runs off the ball and nice weighted passing and good finishing.

i think Backe is falling to create small passing cliques within the side.

i think with Agudelo and Henry a hard nose center foward needs to accompany them. thus the three wod prolly be better served to have Cooper start with them.

Linpere on the left but not so wide and not asked to be a d mid wod help dramatically. the left fullback wod have to make good overlapping runs and yet be able to very stout behind Linpere.

the guys next to Linpere in the dmid will have to be very focused over 90 minutes on be locetd on the pitch in good position to defend. and required to be cautious with the ball.

a side from the left back id say the d line needs to be good on set piece an be able t to find linpere out the back. but most very physical and very focused on d.

I feel or a 4-2-1-2-1 or a 4-3-3 in more of a counter attack style where the team plays narrow and plays like Henry and Agudelo are asked to start from deeper in the pitch and clog passing lanes as the extent of their defensive responsibilities would best suit this side where at times the side wod look like a 4-5-1 when waiting for the oppenent in their own half and look like a 4-3-3 when on the attack.

I dont think Henry can be a CAM. He can create and pass very good in the final third coming in from out wide. But when he gets down into the midfield he just doesnt have what it takes. Every now and then his natural talents allow him to overcome his deficit but hes not someone who can dictate the tempo and run the offense. The sad part is that alot of other MLS teams are finding these players(Seattle, LA, FC Dallas, RSL, etc) but our GM seems not to be able to. You want a 3rd DP CAM? GO get Riquelme. He old and prob will be looking for that last paycheck. Not to mention hes a deadball specialist.

i think if Metro uses a 4-3-3 or a 4-1-2-2-1 Metro can matriculate the ball out the back playing it into space on the right or deft combination passes on the between Linpere and Henry to get up the pitch and into the final third.

maybe have Marquez a cb or dmid in the 4-1-2-2-1 or the 4-3-3. the key imo is to stay organized and compact when defending. its ok to let the opponent get just up to Metro's own final third but in that part of the pitvh metro needs to close passing lanes and win 50/50 balls and clear the ball or try to play it into space and spark a counter.

Im not reinventing the wheel i basically just described how the USMNT has played for a decade. Its how american soccer is played why wouldnt you play this style and these tatcics in an american league.

It seems Philly fans have signed up on metrofanatic to vote for themselves (in 'What team do you hate more?') . No real fan of this team would vote anything other than DC.
