We'll see, but I doubt it...The result was not his fault tonight, but he will lose his job next year if results are the same as the past season.

Bruce had to go awhile ago. He has no idea how to coach a team, build a team, motivate a team.......what else is new?

whther its Bruce or whoever I'd like to see a roster remodeling first, then I'll talk about firing the coach.

He can only coach with what he has on this team, which wasn't much. I give him 1 more off-season and 1 more year to get it right.

The key word is "remodeling". If it's another blow-up, it's gonna end in another failure. Look at the Revs, look at Houston. Consistency, year to year, with little turnover, supplemented by draft picks. Players leave for Europe, younger guys step into their roles.

Yeah, right. Like that has a chance of happening here.

It seems Philly fans have signed up on metrofanatic to vote for themselves (in 'What team do you hate more?') . No real fan of this team would vote anything other than DC.

nobody told him to [...] keep schopp...

I think he had no choice here because of the loan deal. Not sure 100% though.

Give me a break on Schopp. We all wanted him here in the beginning of the season. As far as the ridiculous trades...I'll agree.

I still believe that we could have had Reyna before the DP slot came into existence.

Arena really pissed me off this year...I mean he had a whole season to bulid up a team to his liking but failed...

I didnt like his tatics, Hated his formation and lineup he put out until the end of the season, stupid players and trades he made and the way he would just sit his fat ass on the bench and not stand up and shout to his players, although he did little bit of that in the Playoffs

Ill only give next season and if he fails again...FIRE HIS ASS

We were the better team this playoff series.

Hard to argue with Bruce's "tactics" in this game.

He brought on Mathis midway through the first half and he seemed to ignite the offense. If JPA doesn't get hurt, who knows what happens.

Once Bruce decided JPA had to sit, I knew we were screwed. Simple as that.

We rely too much on one guy. Has been our biggest problem for the better part of this decade.

The funny thing about his tactical decisions in this game is that the best decisions, both of which should have been made before the first game in the series, were made for him by injuries. First, Doe picked up an abdominal injury which got him off the field and allowed Altidore to start up front where he's most effective. Then Reyna picked up his injury, getting him off of the field and bringing on Mathis, which, you're right, made the team better. But it seems unlikely that Arena would have made either of these moves if he weren't forced to.

Unfortunately, the injury fairy didn't stop there. And when Angel did get injured, Arena did in fact, uncharacteristically, get up off the bench (as was pointed out in another thread), but like some doddering old fool, he was yelling about an elbow that was never thrown. I appreciate his advocating so strongly on the team's behalf with the officials, but isn't he kind of expected to know what's actually going on on the field? I mean he's got front row seats and all. If he saw an elbow thrown at Angel on that play, it makes me wonder about the intangibles he saw Reyna contributing all season.

Arena will be going nowhere, he would never of signed less than a 2 year deal .... now unless RBNY want to lose even more money, he'll be here next year.

Unless a big European club comes in for him :D

i actually like bruces tactics. playing more offensive and not just sit back and fucking defend.. i hate that when we are on the road and play conservative and hope to get on the counter and score. it never works! i thought mathis gave a bigger flare to the team and the play he had that he almost scored was magical. he megged smith iirc. not sure but it was signs of old clint. JPA wanted to go back on but the revs team doc said it was a concussion. so brucy put in woly. in my head i didnt know what to expect. as much as i love woly i knew he couldnt be our super replacement. it was a tough loss to swallow. i kinda sorta blame bruce for not making the sub quicker but.. ugh i hate new england. :(
