Mar Vista Soccer has a regular practice (pickup game) at Mar Vista Park on Saturdays at 3:00 PM and Thursdays at Cheviot Hills Park at 7:00 PM.

We play in the outfield of the baseball fields - not on the soccer field, as it is usually booked and has no lights. Last night we played 8 on 8.

Skill and fitness level vary greatly. There are a few players who have really good skills and are really fit. Then there are some other players who don't/aren't.

In other words - it's your typical pickup game in the park. I guy named Marc took my email address down last night, so apparently, they do have some organization.

Wow, with so many teams popping up all over the place, how long before we have a LARS Beer Leagues Weekend Invitational?

I was going to go check it out but a friend came over with liter of Tanqueray (for the price of 500 ml!) a bottle of vermouth and a new stainless steel martini set, needless to say I ended up on the couch flipping between watching the Goats lose and the boring draw of RB and NE.

I'm there tonight.

I'm up for beers at Joxer Daly's afterwards if anybody else is.

I had a hat trick on the pitch and then won 4 games of pool in a row at the bar before voluntarily giving up the table.

All in all a good night.

Due to it getting dark earlier in the Winter months, Saturday's are now being played at 3:00 PM and Thursdays have been moved to 7:00 PM to Cheviot Hills Park where there are lights.

In case anybody missed it (don't worry Andric, I won't mention any names)

Thursdays nights are now being played at CHEVIOT HILLS PARK at 7:00 PM

Saturday's are still at Mar Vista park, but are at 3:00 PM.

You mean miss it like all your shots last night?

Or miss it like you missed the ball when I went dribbling by you?

Good game out at Mar Vista Park yesterday. I had to pick dog poop up off the field before we started playing.

I love dogs, but I hate having to clean up after them - especially when I don't own one.

We play Saturday's at 3:00 followed by a couple of pints at Joxer Daly's.

Edit: I'm not bothering with Thursday nights at Cheviot Hills anymore. We got kicked off of the good grass in the center of the baseball outfields, and are playing on a piece of ground that is half lit/sloping/dirt/tall grass.

FYI- we had a great game last Thursday in the middle of the b-ball fields.

I was considering going tonight, but then realized I had other commitments.

Let me know how it goes. If they manage to play on decent grass, I'll start coming out on Thursday's again.
