If you scan YouTube looking for Bradley Wright-Phillips, youll find numerous goal compilations, a few interviews and, eventually, an excerpt from the grime mixtape series Lord of the Mics.

If Football Manager ratings are to believed (and their scouting is extensive, as opposed to FIFA's), then he's exactly the kind of player we expect. High workrate, a lot of pace, will battle for balls. In the Adams mold.

From the article, we've been after him for several months. Guess he was sorta Plan B if the Lopes deal didn't go through.

Brentford is thisclose to automatic promotion to the PL.Dru Yearwood ... Championship. Can't get off the bench.
I would not knock any player in that squad.
We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

If he can be Sims, Tim Ream or Miazga level thats pretty good. (granted he is hardly playing for the team but its a good signing as he just turned 20)
ok just re-read his stats and he is below that level
Also good in that it starts to set up for 2021 if CCJ is sold or RZA transitioned out.
Now lets grab one of those strikers!
Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

Without ever having actually seen him play, signing a 20 year old who's on the books in the Championship seems like a good move. Brentford is in 3rd place, 3 points out of 2nd and automatic promotion to the PL.
The only red flag I see, and maybe I'm overthinking this, is that Brentford signed him to a 4 year deal less than a year ago. Why give up on him so quickly? Have they soured on him after seeing up close for the year?

He’s had a bit of a stop-start period since he’s been here with us to be honest, which is unfortunate because he arrived here and he was behind the fitness levels of the other boys. So unfortunately for Dru, he’s had a stop-start time with the club. Hopefully he can get a consistent level of fitness and training with the first-team and along with some B team games, we can get him back into the first-team fold sooner rather than later.

There could be a million reasons but, if he wasn't getting playing time while they're in the Championship, then it's not going to get any easier at the Premier League level.

if he can be a fit here, stay healthy and contribute. i'm fine with it. worst case scenario is that he's the midfield version of Jorgen$en, not what we want. if he can supplement Casseres-Davis, we should be ok.

True, if the player in question isn't going to improve to any great extent. But they bought Yearwood when he was 19; Brentford was/is expecting him to get better over the course of the 4 year deal.
But you're right, there could be a million reasons that we don't know about.
