Whether he can adjust or not, Holgersson's severe lack of agility and balance will (obviously) continue to be an issue for him...players can shake him far too easily. If I'm an opposing coach or player, I already have a good idea of exactly how to work this guy.

I'll still give him the benefit of the doubt for now. He hasn't been doing well yet but he may develop into something.
Why Soccer is better than Baseball:

Soccer is a game about a group of people working together to protect and obtain a common goal.

Baseball is a game with a bunch of babies just trying to run "home" and be "safe"

I think its about time to put the 2 on the scale!
Holgersson vs. Boyens.....I think the level of sloppiness is getting there

He's definitely had his share of brain farts to start the season, but his overall level of play isn't at Taylor Graham / Andy Boyens level.

I think it's going to take him some time to adjust to the overall speed of the players in this league and some adjustments in positioning.

Backe / Soler have generally done pretty well in the free agent market. The success story to bust ratio has definitely been positive

I hope the "he just needs time to adjust" crowd is right, but it seems like his problems are purely athletic and not a matter of reading the play or adjusting to a faster paced game.

This.

He has made some mistakes that cost him, but has also made some nice plays...Hopefully he will adjust to the game before TH14 and Kenny Cooper cool off.

Luckily, we can afford to give up one or two goals a game since TH14 seems to able to score at will.

Not worried... He's in a completely new league and country. From living to playing, everything is vastly different.

He has the pure skills to figure everything out. He's pretty good in the air and he's willing. He also seems to be a pro's pro which translates well too.

You guys are talking about him like he's a child. I don't remember any other players getting this "he need to adjust to a new culture" nonsense excuse. A soccer field is a soccer field is a soccer field (except when its a football field) and moving to new places is part of the profession.

Maybe he needs time to adjust or maybe he's terrible, only time will tell, but lets take off the kid gloves.

I don't buy the cultural adjustment argument... especially with the other Nordic elements within the organization. This is a guy that expressed wanting something different... so I agree with the cultural commentary.

Like any league, there is an adjustment period. I voted Holgersson in out in the Metro Survivor competition... as he has been our worst player thus far this season. But... I don't think he's dead yet, however I don't think he should just be gifted a starting job either.

Maybe a case of Lindpere (benched for poor play) helps here.

I think that it is notable that since MLS is a better league whether he is young or not it isn't crazy that it would take him time to adjust. I think its more about the level of play. For example when a rookie comes into the league he is coming from college soccer, so even if he has the potential to play in MLS it is likely to take time to adjust to the heightened level. I'm hoping that is the situation with Holgersson but like you said its too early to tell.

I agree that it should be like that, but it just isn't... Every sport has proven this.

There are guys who struggle at first getting acclimated. It sucks but a player has to be comfortable to be confident in everything he's doing and he's not going to be comfortable immediately when everything is new.

according to Wiki UEFA ranks the Swedish league at 24. That's not bad considering there's 53 members.

Up from 28, in a confederation with perhaps a dozen top leagues.

That ranking obviously has no credibility. How could they, with Azerbijian three full spots ahead of Kazakhstan? And what idiotic ranking would have the Malta premiere League two spots ahead of the Meistriliiga? Maybe ther lower Maltese divisions would have a slight advantage, but certianly not the top flight.
