This team crumbling at then end of games IS on the coach...

Something we didn't do much with Petke.. Just saying...

You can shove your high pressure, first half only style up your ass...

But how much of that is on the coach and how much of that is on Curtis for constructing the roster as is? I'm not defending Marsch at all but it's not like he was dealt a strong hand to play here.

This is true but almost nobody was praising Ali after the undefeated start. Jesse got almost all the credit and I remember a quote from him saying the hot start was satisfying and proof of the system and roster choices blah blah. Now he needs to get a lot of the blame. His quotes after games are getting more silly each week including Friday lamenting the field condition at Houston. Ali is definitely to blame no doubt but Jesse is displaying signs why he didn't get another HC job after MTL.

The two of them are a tied at the hip, they are a team and march in lock step. You can't separate one from the other for criticism. They built this team and the strategy together. Together they bet the ranch on Felipe and Sacha and Jesse's system, and together they are accountable. If you want to blame RB for not giving them money to spend on difference makers, they took the job with that understanding, and took responsibility for making it work.

Sad part about all these fire____ threads is that is what we will get and still nothing will change. Until rb is out nothing that matters will change, except names and faces we place the blame on.

Marsch has done a great job with the players he's been dealt with. The problem here has always been Curtis. The BS he said on seeing red about being happy and focusing on this current squad was ok for the first few games, but we're now well into a third of this season and the needs in the roster are so obvious. We can play a good system when high-pressing and causing turn-overs to get crosses to BWP or Grella or even Sacha if he gets in on the attack. The problem is when opposing teams counteract that and study our play and can play out of their back well and catch us on the counter attack. When Red Bull isn't high pressing there's no other way in creating an offensive rhythm. Sacha is a great box to box player but he and no other midfielder can seem to find BWP. Every attempt Dax or Felipe does to find BWP fails. Hence why he hasn't scored in the run of play since when? There's no one capable of breaking down defenses, drawing defenders and finding BWP. BWP has had to track back (ala Henry style) and find other players because he doesn't receive the necessary service. The same issue RB had when Henry was here. There was no one to service him! Turned out Henry had the ability to play as a CAM and therefore gave this team a fighting chance. The main issue with this team has always been the lack of a true no. 10 a playmaker, one who has the vision and skill to draw defenders and service a guy like Henry before and now BWP.

I bet if we signed a great skilled left winger DP which everyone I know wants, that player would be forced to play centrally in order to get to the offense more directly. We still need a good left winger, but I honestly think Sacha can play in that position and leave the CAM open to a DP.

Also BWP needs help. Without an Henry to draw defenders you'll need another reliable forward option. Abang just scored his first goal, but if BWP went down could you really rely on an 18-year old to bag the goals for you?

This team need a creative mid, famous or non famous and a second forward also famous or not. Ideally you'd like for one of those players to have some star power. This is NY after all but with Curtis running the show I doubt it.

You can't give Marsch a pass on the roster - Sacha and Felipe were clearly his guys and Curtis went and got them for him. Marsch had Sacha pegged for that creative center mid, and clearly got that wrong.

Grella should be a more than acceptable backup to BWP, if he weren't stuck playing out of position on the left. Of course, we all knew we would need a true LM....but Jesse and Ali apparently felt we were good there, as well.

It's all a proxy for Red Bull Out, because this shit is all a result of their fucked approach to this team billboard.

They're pals.. I'm sure Jesse has some sort of input on who he wants. This regime is cheap, stupid and all can go fuck themselves..

bump. now that he's gone (on his own accord, not fired), it would be nice to look back on some early thoughts of Marsch as a coach.
