Performances like that  greatly diminish Long's overseas prospects

Long subbed out at the half.

I read before the game that this was a predetermined decision.
This post is dedicated to all the slow defenders of the world. Godspeed! my brothers

It's a pre-World Cup friendly. I always remember back in 1998, US rolled Austria 3:0 on the road, Sampson thought we were gonna be hot shit and 3-6-1 will conquer all.

I read before the game that this was a predetermined decision.

I think it was. GB is trying to find the right pairing/set up for Zimmerman, who I think is the only given to start at CB.

they looked uncomfortable playing the Berhalter unbalance them with possession

They have good players and should just play to strengths of out pressing/running the other teams

Doyle makes a good point that this looked like a friendly to US but a 2 games to go to WC for Japan

Answer the question of if Ferreira is #1 which he is not.

Answer question - should team pass out of back - No

Answered question about playing in single or double pivot - double

They looked like a bunch of guys who just met each other in the parking lot for the first time before the game.

Iran looked good v. Uruguay, winning 1-0.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Looked like bad execution of a bad game plan, accentuated by an awful pitch and long travel. Berhalter was asking for a lot of distribution out of the CBs and gave them nobody to pass to. The midfield was standing still and the front three are all like 5'8". Not quite sure what it was Berhalter was looking to learn here, but whatever it was I can't imagine it yielded much.

USMNT needs to play Richards/Zimmerman at CB and don't ask them to play it out of the back at all. Quick passes or boot it down field and have the wingers run onto them or Sargent/Pepi up top as a target to knock it down. A quartet of Turner, Zimmerman, Long, Adams as the ones on the ball in the buildup is horrific.

Every striker sucks under Berhalter. You're not going to get good output from that position regardless of who you put there.

Replace Berhalter with Struber and it's a subject of another thread!?

(Zardes is the one obvious exception for Berhalter at the club level.)

You can say that about more than just forwards. Saw this on twitter, seems reasonable: https://twitter.com/...VDfigCN0SChVzA. Aligns with the double pivot point from Doyle but also places the blame more on Berhalter assigning the central midfield guys wrong roles/tasks rather than execution/intensity/pitch quality, which GGG and others used as excuses.

Hungary beat Germany away in the other fixture in this group & lead in the standings with one game remaining. They scored early and rode their luck a bit with Germany missing lots of good chances (Hungary also missed a couple of good chances on the counter). They need a point at home vs Italy on Monday to win the group and make it to the Final 4.

Netherlands host Belgium on Sunday and need to avoid a 2-goal loss for a spot in the Final 4.
