The thing that worries me greatly is that they are going to ignore the attendance plummeting by blaming it on the PATH situation. Reminds me of what legendary wrestling promoter Paul Boesch once said: " When promoters draw a bad crowd they come up with a bunch of reasons why they didn't draw when the real reason is that they presented a product that people didn't want to pay to see".
Let's Go Buffalo!!!

Looks like 26,000 found their way to RBA, despite all the supposed problems:

Comparing RB regular season games to a USWNT WC sendoff game is a false equivalence.

Also, the WTC trains are working today for the holiday.

Says you. How did all these moms and their daughters find their way to a stadium in a small town?
How can NYC-area soccer fans not?

the WTC trains are working today for the holiday.

How much of the crowd used the PATH?

I'm sure you don't need me to spell it out, but it's much easier to waste a day on a once a year (or 4 years) occasion for your daughter's heroes that it is for a biweekly NYRB regular season MLS game.

Actually, it seems like a large part of our supposed fan base has also decided to attend a game only once every year or four.
Oh, and the media as well. Star-Ledger is not able to find RBA or cover an RB match, but a reporter manages to take his daughter to a lone game and write an article to fill his quota: https://www.nj.com/s...irl-politi.html
For all his fawning, will he ever take her to a Sky Blue match? Or, a second one?
Of course, self-indulgent journalism is not limited to the SL: https://www.bbc.com/...tories-48397671

Came across some spurs fans watching the Liverpool game at my buddy's apartment down the street from RBA. One of them came over and said something unrelated to soccer, but I asked if they were going to game later. She indicated she had never been and had no intention of ever going.

The Euro superiority thing is nothing new, but when you have people who live within walking distance and couldn't find two fucks to give, you have a problem.

Decent crowd last night.
Post-game fireworks probably helped.
Noise level after the goals was excellent.

There are probably more soccer fans in that neighborhood than any similarly sized area in the country. RBA could be filled every week by people living within 5 miles of the stadium. It is/was an incredible opportunity.

And until we win something, or sell the team and not be named after a soft drink....

It being MLS was decidedly the factor, not those things. The new teams don't have the stigma of shit soccer for whatever reason. It's improved obviously but so have the existing teams, so why is it they struggle?

MLS is not perceived as top-level soccer, whether in Harrison, the Ironbound or the NYC metro area.
Until that perception changes, it was not be a major attraction to the average fan of the sport.

RB not alone in inflating attendance.
