best part is he would continue to count as a Young DP on the cap next year right?  so it would allow us to keep cap flexibility

He had impressive balance and agility, so when he did get hit he was able to keep possession and continue moving the ball.   Omir spends a lot of time on the ground.

We will have cap flexibility for all our regular DPs, no problem at all.

Sims will be 23 next season, so yeah, he would count 200k against the cap rather than a regular DP's cap hit, unless they rewrite the DP rules and stuff like that in the off season.

Guessing the judgement on Sims was based on the one play where McKenzie shouldered him off.  It was one play though.. Sims is fine on strength.

I'm just hopeful we keep him.  He fits the system perfectly.   You can tell Kaku is a player who loves hitting a ball into space and letting guys run onto it and the team has no speed higher up the field so he never gets to actually do it.  Well Sims has legit speed.  Sims created that first goal out of nothing just by gaining a step on the defender.

Assuming we pay him the same (not a safe assumption given our ownership), Sims would have to decide if he would rather toil as an average Championship player or feature as a possible all-star level MLS player. If his Prem dreams are over, he may rather live and play here than in, say someplace like Stoke.

I always feel a lot of it is personality driven and how much people love the NYC life. While we don't have the same location advantage as LA would (weather and locale) we offer a big advantage over a team like Columbus. Hell, one of the big reasons Henry came here was because of the NYC life and everything it brings. Some guys want and cherish that experience while others like Veron just miss home and being away from family too much.

I think it goes without saying that if Sims is going to be sold to MLS he'd prefer to play in NY, LA, or Miami.  The real question is does Sims want to play in the USA?  Does he feel he's too young to give up on Premier League or (insert European) league dreams?
