I won't go to as many games

Really, not much would change. My schedule would just get a little lighter not having to fit the Fire in. I will still play soccer, enjoy the Summer, enjoy family and make more Red Stars games. I doubt I would even think about the Fire if there were any significant work stoppage.

Besides, the World Cup will be going on, maybe I'll try to use Season Ticket money to find a way to South Africa !!

this next season is a fucking washout for us anyway...i'd just watch the world cup on a TV that i spent my season ticket money as a downpayment on....plus i can pay it off with saving parking money and scarf money and beer and gas money and food money and time at work money and not buying a new jersey money
you can't give the cow away and expect the last person to buy it back for you

There aren't many things that could kill the league at this point, but this would probably be one.

this was bound to happen. the league has made great strides since the times of wynalda and 40 yd run up shootouts, in terms of the development of the game as a whole. yet the league still has draconian policies concerning inter et intra league transfers. i mean i remember when the league in its infinite wisdom would hand pick players to go where they wanted them too (based on drawing power and investment), even though they had set up a democratic system to delegate who had first rights to whom and who could move or not move. oh wait, this still happens. the owners association has had a safe haven for quite some time here, in terms of contractual agreements, but it made business sense to do so since the league could barely stand on its own two feet at the time. i think this lockout is due to the fact that the players truly believe this league will stand the test of time and can do so right now but the owners are fearful of losing the power they have because they have had it so good for so long.

REVOLUTIONS ARE THE LOCOMOTIVES OF HISTORY!

we need a paradigm shift and it must come now. doing it during a world cup year will greatly improve the capacity for outsiders to pay attention to a league which needs the attention and care it deserves. this quarrel is a great attempt to put us on par with the rest of the world. SUPPORT THE PLAYERS AND THE CLUBS. a well known person once said.

love your team fear your management.

i say we hold a rally to support the players in there efforts. get some press by causing a ruckus (non-violent of course). this is a great opportunity to get behind the players and show what is at stake. we can't let yet another inflexible business plan stifle the development of a burgeoning soccer culture in america. A LA USA, NPSL, and the fated NASL (another great article from PI). we shouldn't just sit back on own hands like the baseball fans a little more than 20 years ago and watch.

I'll offer up free living space and food to a player that can't pay rent.

Saving roadtrip money is a plus, I guess. But I'm confident this will get worked out. The owners and players both know the league will be dead if this happens. The NHL had a loyal following and their lockout hurt. Even MLB had seen better days and it took a steroid induced homerun summer a few years later to bring it back. The owners need the players and most of the players need MLS because most of this league would find difficulty finding an employer overseas. They'll hammer out a deal. The owners need to open up the wallets as the wages in MLS are a joke.

Looking at how labor troubles fouled the fans' perception of much more popular sports such as baseball or hockey, I'd probably prepare to write an epitaph for the MLS.

I, like Ben, will have room to house a player (or two), should that ever be necessary due to fiscal reasons.
