sad that we don't get at least 20,000 ... no matter who, when and what we are playing for.

Metro drew 46,826 for its first home match:

Although more had been expected:
https://mobile.nytim...ome-opener.html
And larger crowds in subsequent games.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

More important question: how many of us have been there, at the 430 ensuing home games?
I have mentioned here on prior occasions, that I was in a group of about 20 family and friends for the inaugural match. That number dwindled through the season, and I attended the playoff game alone.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

my first game was Metro-DC in 97. 2nd was USOC at Columbia, and we're still the only MLS team to play on Manhattan proper!

I started with 4 season tix Season 1. Have been down to 2 tix the last 5-8 seasons and more recently I am often showing up alone and not from lack of effort...Sigh

Me too! And I was even at a viewing party for the first away match at a bar called Giuseppe OLearys, that I think was hosted by original ESC peeps.

my first game was Metro-DC in 97.

The July win?
http://www.metrofana...&TEAM=DC United
In 96, Metro played DC seven times!

2nd was USOC at Columbia

I was so happy when MLS decided to participate in the USOC. Delighted when Metro got to host the semi-final. Disappointed when we got Burned in OT.

Branco, of all people, was our goalscorer.
Had we won, I doubt that I would have gone to the neutral-site final in Indiana. I did not even drive to LI that year for the quarter-final.

1st half of 98 season was in midfield in Sec 117 or something behind the guys who had the "M" "E" "T" "R" "O" letters, Ronan and those dudes. 2nd half of 98, sec 101.

My first game was summer of 2001 vs the scum where Metro won on an own goal. First game in 101 was shortly after that and I've been an ESC member ever since.

Lost the yellowed, wrinkled-up article I wrote; but I'm fairly sure I saved my credential from that game/season.

First game I ever went to was when we were in the playoffs against LA. Western conference playoffs. I didn't even understand how that could be a thing.

Dont question the ways of G... arber.
That had previously been our route to our only MLS Cup final, in 2008!
And I went to the second leg in LA! Walking down a street, someone yells Jake! It was Polish Pete!

I still remember the time me, you and Pete went to Foxboro. Security said no poles were allowed and Pete goes "So I'm not allowed" and the guard goes "I didn't mean Pollacks". I thought Pete was going to kill the guy. Then we partied after the game in the parking lot with the Riders until the Kraftstapo kicked everyone out. Good times great memories!
Let's Go Buffalo!!!
