Pros: known quantity, good attitude, no need to use scouting resources
Cons: low ceiling, backup level player, takes an international slot
The international spot for a backup player with limited potential is a dealbreaker for me, but recognizing RB's level of ambition and front office mediocrity I wouldn't be overly shocked or appalled to see him back.
This is the other issue, RBNY have done a pathetic job of getting guys GCs. CCJ was the last one, and that was a couple of years ago.
Hopefully Reyes and a few others are on the path to acquiring them this winter.
Right, so Philly spends 2.8M on Uhre, who has a proven scoring record in the Danish league. We spend as much (a little less?) on Jorgensen, who does not.
Because they dont have the self imposed age restrictions that we seemingly do. Remember how surprised we were when players like Morgan (25) and Luquinhas (25) were brought in this winter?
There is a little more flexibility now than in the recent past to bring in some relatively veteran talent, but we are still a Red Bull team which means an eye towards younger talent, without wanting to pay the price tag for the elite young talent.
Also Harper should be seeing more minutes in this 4-2-3-1. Move CCJ back or rotate him out from time to time and slide Luquinhas inside to the 10. This team doesnt really have a 10 so not sure it matters who plays there.
It's hysterical the handful of people on Twitter blaming the results on Struber. While his substitutions lately and infatuation with CCJ are questionable, at best, he is working with what he's got...and it's not much.
Alternate reality. Everyone is supposed to be Jesse Marsch and MLS in 2022 is MLS from 5 years ago.
Sadly, not surprised. I called the ticket office on the day of the NY derby to buy tickets. Called a few times spaced out over a few hours and didnt even get a ring. Straight to the box office voicemail every time. Biggest game of the year for a club that can't sell tickets and they don't even pick up the phone....
I would call them on par with a minor league promotion but you have to be actively negligent to be this bad. The Somerset Patriots put them to shame from a professionalism standpoint.
Again the non sporting side of the front office has already accepted defeat and it is an indication that nothing is going to measurably change on the sporting side.
Extra theme nights, pandering to influencers and Tiktokers to help drive engagement, they cant sell people on the soccer. The ads on the PATH reference the arena as a selling point more so than the team.
There needs to be a concerted effort from the fanbase to raise a stink here if things continue on this path. Soon it will be the point of no return.
Team had an auction for NYRBII jerseys they wore for Pride night. Won a jersey and card was charged. Nobody reached out like the auction details stated, so I reached out to them a few days later and they asked if I wanted it signed. Said "yes". In the auction details it said it would take 2 weeks for the signed jerseys to be shipped. We are at a month and its been radio silent since. I followed up last week, no response. Followed up today, lets see if I get a response.
These are the types of signings they should be doing. Its like Liefering but on a smaller scale/budget. Try to find some Central American/Caribbean gems and polish them up. If they can hack it they get low level first team contracts.
Wasnt there a match where we played with 2CBs and D. Nealis at fullback, and it was so bad that Struber had to sub out Omir on the first half, bring on Harer to play wingback, and go to 3 CBs (D. Nealis being the 3rd CB)?
away to KC. DNealis is a liability defensively pretty much anywhere you put him. He can somewhat hack it as a wingback because he has defensive cover behind him in the form of 3 CBs.
