Sorry guys, I was sick as a twirled armadillo stuck in a cotton candy machine... on a boat.

From what I've read, LARS could have benefited from a "Capo" due to the enormous size of our group. Once again, it's just physics of sound.

Ironically, I wasn't planning on doing it because I didn't think we'd need one. I guess I was wrong.

The next game is Chivas. Due to the the fact it's an "away" game, we'll most likely be placed next to the ACB and Galaxians. This pretty much precludes have a capo as it's going to be a clusterfuck no matter what (on the ACB boards, they were complaining about the galaxians "aimless drumming all game").

However, a week later is Chicago and that should be a pretty well attended match. We'll try it then and we'll also have a better placement of drums worked out.

Thanks for listening...

Ahem. For the record, I saw ETZ, Sign guy, Who's that guy, and El Dude all step up and do what was neccessary.

This is the preferable way to go. People in each section contributing, not two entire sections of people waiting on a capo to tell them what to do.

Right now the single capo theory is hugely popular, so....

Feel free to move this post if necessary (actually, considering how fucked up the boards are, I CHALLENGE you to move this thread if you don't like it)....

Consider this:

At the end of 2007, we started talking about how 138 had been filled and how we should split the group, and have two half full sections (137 and 138) as opposed to one overflowing section. From my observations over the past two weeks (when the stadium was at capacity, something that we should expect our FO will strive toward more often) we've just about filled 138 again and 137 is getting there. I looked back during the derby at one point and GITDS was way high up in 137.

Oh Danny boy, 139 is calling... I now think we're in a position to fill 3 sections to their halfway line and our current expansion rate will help take us to the top in each one. Obviously, I'm thinking 2009, and not tomorrow.

Why does this go here?

The Capo system needs to be tweaked... I still believe that people can communicate side to side using the old organized chaos system. After all, turning to your side only takes up a minimal amount of effort. Turning around becomes quite complicated. First off, because it requires you to turn away from the game (which, in theory at least, is the reason why we're all there) and secondly, sometimes you turn around, make an effort, and people look at you like you're a dirty Tuzo.... wait a minute!!.... but you get my point.

Capos need to be arranged horizontally right in the middle of the squad. Not in the middle of 137 or in the middle of 138, but right in the middle of both sections. The capos should be communicating with each other constantly so that you're not crossing over each other (Christian, Ali, mumbler, I'm looking at you. I'm also thanking you for your efforts, without them, I wouldn't have been able to make these observations). Obviously, the further up the sections go, the harder it is to accomplish this kind of capoing. If we can re-expand and keep the sections low, we can again strengthen our voices closer to the field and centralize the chanting.

Having said all this, get your tomatoes ready, I'm volunteering for the next home game. I also want my boys Zombie, Gunslinger and Zero Cool working with me on the next one. Yeah, I'm calling you out, bitches.

Good call Isaac.

While we are on the subject...
One of the reasons we were so strong in San Jose was that we were in a long band of fans 7 rows deep, rather than the deep pie wedges that are 137/138. I think Breadth is actually a lot more valuable for the sound and projection of chants than depth.

i've been called out. time to shine!

the question is no longer whether we need a capo at all. it's whether how many we need and where to place them. we should diversify and adapt to the situation.

heres an example of when a central capo is appropriate: Urawa central capo
you can see their capo standing on top of the entrance with a megaphone.
