RSL was at 1.43 pts/gm under Petke and they are undefeated with 2.5 pts/gm in four games under Juarez.  I know some of it is probably who they played, but still...

There was a study about coach changes - there is often a short term increase in performance, but rarely a long term one. Combine that with opponents and a small sample size - doubt it was Petke holding RSL back necessarily. There was a similar bump when Petke took over IIRC (maybe not as big).

And obviously 2.5/gm is never going to last for any significant period of time.

Of course, I'm just saying the fact Juarez went undefeated, with two wins, in the three games prior to Petke's dismissal, made it a helluva of a lot easier to move on from him.

Well, didn't Richie Williams have a decent run as interim coach after JCO got canned?

Not sure the point, so my apologies if Im misreading....

Peter took a team that was in the shorter, hopeless and turned them around. Turned them from crap, into a legitimate play off contender.

Juare has taken Petkes team and won 4 games in a row.

The New York Red Bulls previously kicked around Major League Soccer as the MetroStars with limited success. But after transforming under a new banner in 2005, the Red Bulls have become a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference. The club has made leaps of progress since its previous incarnation and now has its focus on bringing the league title to New York. San Jose coach Almeyda just sent off.
Looks like he threatened the 4th official.
Commentators think he said in Spanish that he will be waiting for the ref by the locker room.
Lets see how this gets handled.

IF SJ do the kneejerk reaction, RB needs to hire him for next season..

My point wasnt to undermine Petkes achievements, just that RSLs decision to release Mike was made easier by Juarez getting results. I think if Juarez had lost 3 matches, RSL may have made a different decision.
