People would be happy to get Bobby Wood because they would think about his USMNT experience and not how he has been doing the last two years... because no one has actually watched him.

Andres Ivan was 23 when we signed him, Egbo is 22 and will be 23 in August. Hard to judge him obviously but it is sort of telling that Darmstadt signed him in May and might be willing to part ways just months later into a 3-year contract.

Have hopes for the keeper though. Was a starter in the Eredivisie but lost his spot to a younger guy.

Not a Shield winner, but definitely not 9th or worse in the East.

J$en

Royer Kaku Sims

Davis Casseres

Taxi Long Parker Egbo(?)

J$en(?)

Meara Tarek Duncan Valot Muyl Rza White

Based on that it is a serviceable bench. We are still short in high end talent which is a major problem.

"Obviously, I want to make a living (in soccer), to say the least," he said. "There's so much you can accomplish in the soccer world, and right now I'm focused on having a good season with the Red Bulls. Ultimately, our goal is to win the MLS Cup, and I see no reason why we can't." - #4 Tyler Adams

Wasn't the Open Cup run the other year a good enough audition for Meara? I thought it was.

Also is McIntosh that bad they needed to go out and sign another keeper?

I would have gone with Meara and McIntosh/Louro for the first team and let the GK that doesn't make the bench play with the draft pick at RBII.

As for Egbo, it's a signing that doesn't move the needle at all with the first team. They need significant improvements to the XI, not more draft picks/RBII scrubs/squad players.

Happy for some signings?!?!?

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

84 appearances in the German 4th tier
5 appearance in the German 2nd tier
1 appearance in the Bundesliga

22 appearances in the German 5th tier
65 appearances in the German 4th tier
16 appearances in the German 3rd tier

Which one is Ivan and which one is Egbo?

You literally made me laugh out loud!!

The New York Red Bulls previously kicked around Major League Soccer as the MetroStars with limited success. But after transforming under a new banner in 2005, the Red Bulls have become a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference. The club has made leaps of progress since its previous incarnation and now has its focus on bringing the league title to New York. Ive never seen eithe guy play, so I have no idea how good they are. Would be smart if others realized that too.

As for Mandela.....he signed a 3-year contract this past summer in the German 2nd division. Half a season later, his club is willing to let him walk away. Not a great sign.

I hope they both play well for us.

I'm ok with both signings. The GK is a head scratcher - thought Meara would be the undisputed #1. Maybe they weren't comfortable with that new signing (ex Philly union I think?) as a backup yet, so it triggered a search to find a suitable #2 guy at GK. Whether that will be Meara or new guy - who knows.

As for the RB, I just hope he has the physical tools. If we are spending money to bring in an international guy who will get out muscled like Lade or outran like Bucky, then we're fucked.

Mandela's 5'11". I think he'll be fine. McIntosh was on Timbers2.

All rumors have basically been us going for guys who probably would have been starters in MLS 5 years ago. Sorry if we continue to bitch but it isn't totally unexpected.

We haven't paid a lot for a player since Kaku and Jorgi. Also I think there was some excitement when we gave more money to Parker/Long.

The one thing that gives me hope is we didnt hear a single rumor about either of these signings.

I hope more work is going on behind the scenes.

Burning an international spot on a keeper is infuriating.

Cant speak to the RB but if hes Ivan level then punch me in the face.

Still need a super talented veteran CDM and a super star multi million dollar attacker. No chance at hardware this season otherwise.

Casseres is gonna be that CDM. He should have been given the keys last year but instead we dicked around and let Davis/rza battle it out for most of the year.

We need a backup CDM. If Casseres goes down we are fucked.

Except as good as he is, he isnt a Tyler type ball winner.

Hes the best of the bunch, but Im not sure how far a CCJ-RZA/Davis midfield take you.
