We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Sims is on TAM-level money at ~$700k, I wonder if he'd be happy with that amount if he decides to sign a full time contract next year.

Also strange that Rzatkowski was announced as a TAM player even though he's only making $300k?

Not sure why, as we are well under the allowed club budget, but the buy-down mechanism is described below. Does this mean Rza is making more but his charge is only 341k? I'm not 100% sure I understand.

Buy-Down

Allocation Money can be used to "buy-down" a player's Salary Budget Charge as part of managing a club's roster, including buying a Salary Budget Charge below the League maximum of $530,000. For example, a club may "buy down" a player earning $500,000 to a Salary Budget Charge of $300,000 by using $200,000 of General Allocation Money.

General Allocation Money can also be applied in the following circumstances:

  • To sign players new to MLS (that is, a player who did not play in MLS during the previous season).
  • To re-sign an existing MLS player.
  • To off-set acquisition costs (loan and transfer fees).
  • In connection with the extension of a player's contract for the second year provided the player was new to MLS in the immediately prior year.
  • To reduce the Salary Budget Charge of a Designated Player to a limit of $150,000.

Jorg salary was available in the June update. The only new info for us seems to be Sims' 700k, not too shabby.

Am I remembering correctly that Ben Mines had a full ride to Stanford lined up, but that he turned it down to sign with the club?  Unless his career starts going places, I'm afraid he made the wrong choice.  I'm pretty sure that most kids in their first jobs out of Stanford are making more than $62k.

OTOH, quite a few only make $57-70K.

Would you prefer chartered flights or $100K salary?
