#1296834 2016-17 Champions League Thread

Wow, getting eliminated from a knockout game in March before the regular season has even started is a nice change of pace, we usually have to wait until November for this.

Anyone else getting tired of what looks like a whiny mentality from this team?  Sacha telling the ref he sucks at the end, Felipe flopping around and complaining after pretty much every play.  Like others have said it's one thing to lose, but just play hard and stop with all the bitching on the field.

I'm disappointed in the people dismissing Dax like this.  There's something to be said for the off the field stuff he brought to the club.  Just a great all around guy that people enjoyed rooting for, which isn't so easily replaced.  And even if you felt he was in a decline, I don't see how 200k of allocation money they're just gonna use to buy down someone else's contract for the next two years is a good deal.

This is a horseshit move.  There's been a handful of players for this franchise that have really been "faces" of the team and he's one of them. I'm not saying you keep guys around just for sentiment alone, but this is our 29 year old captain who busts his ass every game and is nowhere near being done  I like Davis, but this smells to me of Red Bull being cheap again and replacing Dax to save some bucks.  Hope they use the money and prove me wrong.

If you're a dues paying member of ESC, GSU, or VA and you happen to read this, please know from the bottom of my heart how embarrassed and dissapointed I and many people I know are in you.  We had a chance to do something here, and you couldn't even get a 12 MINUTE protest going?  Maybe this is the ownership we deserve.

It really does dissapoint me to see the SGs basically carrying on business as usual.  Red Bull Out doesn't have anywhere near the resources or public image these groups do.  Right or wrong, the SGs are the public face of this teams fans.  We basically have one big shot this weekend to make a statement, but it doesn't look like they have any interest in rocking the boat.  I would think sacrificing partying for one game to take some kind of stand would be a no- brainer, but I guess not.  Red Bull Out won't end if nothing happens this week, but it could be that much stronger with some help this weekend.

#1238055 Billboard design ideas

Posted by redbullandvodka on 09 January 2015 - 01:22 PM

So I was going over some of the artwork ideas with our art approval team here, and they said in situations like this there will have to have some kind of line to indicate who exactly is paying for this message, along the lines of "paid for by the fans" or something like that as a disclaimer.  Like Gravedigger has said, the hard part was raising the money and securing  a location, and we've done that.  We don't have to submit a finalized version of the art to our printers until early February, so we can take our time and make sure it's right.

Normally, I would agree with all the people saying to keep the billboard simple, the less words the better is generally the rule as people usually see it for 5-6 seconds and they're past it.  The good part about a project like this, photos of the billboard and the artwork are going to be circulated online and in the media and generate almost as much interest as the billboard itself, so you can get away with adding a little to it.  I am in the camp that the main theme of the billboard should be to indicate how badly the fans want Red Bull to sell the team, and you would be surprised how many social media campaigns are using hashtags in their billboards now.  I will say however, some subtle acknowledgement of Petke should be included, be it an image or his number, just not the focal point.  His firing is what got everyone going, but attacking the larger problem I think is the more powerful message.

Many thanks to GraveDigger for stepping up and organizing this.  As soon as I get back to my office later I can post a map to show people where the exact location of the board is.  Also, the size of the board is 14x48, and for anyone who wants the specs for files to try to come up with artwork, PM me with your email address and I can send that to you.  I had some of my art staff do a quick simple mock up of what some art would look like, I'll post that as well.

#1236361 Protest ideas?

How much does that kind of thing cost?

Depends on which location, how long it's up etc.  If there's serious interest though from people with the South Ward or whoever to do this, just PM me and I'll make sure I get the absolute lowest price I can get without getting fired.  I would love nothing more than to put a Sell Red Bull billboard right on Rt. 280 leading into the stadium.

Completely floored by this...Already left a voicemail and email to refund my season tickets.  I happen to work for a billboard advertising company, so if there's any interest in doing a get RB to sell billboard kind of like what the Jets fans did with firing their general manager, I'd be more than happy to help out.
