I will cut Grella some slack about the second half of last season for two reasons: 1) He and his wife brought home a new baby which is very disruptive, and 2) he was playing with a sports hernia and was likely playing with a great deal of discomfort.  I'd give Grella another year without a moment of doubt, although it's possible (likely) that if both Veron and Royer show well in preseason then Mike and Muyl should start on the bench, with Grella coming in as a super-sub. Sub-par season or not, I've never seen the guy quit out there.

You can cut Grella slack, but not Marsch for playing him.

there's a reason teams pay big bucks for difference maker players.  We have a lot of very good players ,that over the span of a super long MLS season ,rack up points b/c of their work rate/ethic, and skill, but We need that one "killer" that will make the difference during these unforgiving playoff games. Unfortunately  those killers cost money and RB has no intention of spending to get us a Piatti, Henry, Giovinco etc... type.

the supporting cast is in place for this hypothetical/mythical difference maker to take the team to the next level.

So anyone wanna throw out some potential targets that may actually be realistic? Or some pipe dream targets?

In most sports, it's hard to win with "small-ball" but can be done. MLS is one of the few where you can get away with that style.

MLS Cup is on a Saturday without much CFB. It will be worth the wait if it breaks records for viewership.

TBH I don't think we really need help up front. We scored a ton of goals last year. If anything we need a RB badly.

Big DP signings mean exactly jack shit in MLS. They never have mattered and they never will. Now signing EFFECTIVE DPs, yes, that makes a difference as long as it doesn't strangle the salary cap. Toronto just did a very nice job with that this season. That's all.

We need a good DP signing. Don't really care how "big" he is.

I love(d) TH14, but he didn't exactly light it up in the playoffs either. Find someone who can fit the system & make a difference. I'd rather not get caught up on a big name; they tend to disappoint. If you're bringing in Humberto Suazo or something, fine, but I'd be ok with the right fit over the big name.
