Now the mythical CAM everyone wants also needs to be a hybrid Ozzie Alonzo and Jermaine Jones athleticism?

There's a large gap between Sacha's level and Jones' of athleticism.

I like Sacha a lot and my preference would be for him to stay and for Marsch to develop the next CAM alongside him.  That means that young player getting more than the occasional start when Marsch rotates the whole squad and more than 10 minutes every other game as a sub.  Marsch has definitely been better about getting guys more minutes this season, so maybe he could make it work.

Agree on how stark the level of athleticism difference is...

That half-way stuff doesn't work in my opinion.  Think it has to be one or the other primarily.   Neither guy ends up getting into a flow because neither guy gets consistent minutes.

Either way, when Sacha is gone I do think that our formation changes.  I don't hate this current formation however, and I really like that we play something different than every other team.  THe issue is that we seriously need defenders in this formation.

if sacha re-signs with us, i am guessing it would have to be at a non-DP / non TAM level. and i doubt he would be willing to do that since he can probably go elsewhere and get one last big contract.  i am just worried of investing a ton of cap space and/or allocation money on a guy who is rapidly declining physically.

keita has already shown flashes of being able to play in that #10 role.  he is younger, more athletic, and has the soccer IQ to make the same types of passes that sacha can make. plus he puts in a better corner kick.  i think you roll the dice and pencil keita as your starter next year, with either felipe or adams backing him up.

If that's the case I would rather then just play

--------Veron--BWP---------

Royer-----------------Keita/Davis

-----Adams-Felipe/Davis-------

Taxi-Long-New CB/Escobar-Murillo

-----------Robles----------------

RB 53 goals scored were T7th in MLS.
A couple of missed PKs hurt the total.

I believe that's our lowest total scored since 2011.

The 3 own goals was the most we ever got in a season.

Unless they have a Diego Valeri type signing lined up (lol), getting rid of Sasha now would be crazy. They need to start planning for his departure, very likely at the end of next year, but I'm not confident the likes of Keita or Davis are ready to play the role at the same level.

Keita has looked great in his two appearances as a #10, but its a super small sample against two of the league's worst teams. Davis has surpassed my expectations as an attacking player but he still has not shown any real creative streak to his passing.

completely agree

Sascha was in beast mode, I could care less about having options about playing different formations especially if they'll be worse for it...

This style and formation work especially when Royer, Sacha and BWP are healthy.. Verón is better off the bench than as a starter anyway

Very good to see him step up in the playoffs. He was disappointing many times in the post season, but this year feels different.

Had a great game... against a Fire team that hasn't beaten a team with a winning record since July.  If he has this type of performance against Toronto and gets us to MLS Cup, he can play until he needs a walker.

Does Sacha's red card carry over to next season?

Hope so.  Also that's assuming that Sacha will be here next season.

On a more serious note, I think so?

If you scan YouTube looking for Bradley Wright-Phillips, youll find numerous goal compilations, a few interviews and, eventually, an excerpt from the grime mixtape series Lord of the Mics.

Yes.

I can't recall who it was but a few years ago another teams' player left for a league overseas and when he came back several years later, he had to serve his red card suspension.

Our results have been getting progressively worse each year lately, we weren't far off from missing the playoffs altogether this year. And for my money that's largely because we aren't effectively bringing in upper-tier talent, and instead leaving the reigns to young and/or unproven guys and hoping for the best.

Are we gonna go 0-34 next year if Etienne takes Kljestan's place? No, but are you actually gonna say that without any other significant reinforcements you're confident that team would catch a whiff of the playoffs?

Without sasha, we would still be a playoff team. Felipe would take sasha's role and production. I see them as equals. Adams would take felipe's role if we keep the same formation at dm.

The biggest loss would be adams play on the wing. Murillo, muyl, lade, zizzo, etienne, or bezecourt could put in an avg performance. Maybe get 3-4 assists from that position.

If Tyler took Sacha's role next season, we would definitely make playoffs.  Barring any crazy other injuries anyway.  Tyler may not put up the same assist numbers, but he's going to cause more defensively.  He makes our press better instantly considering Sacha is/was useless with that last year.  Couldn't close down with any speed, and even if he got there, the slowest of the slow CB's could make the easiest of moves to gain more space.

You think Felipe would lead the league in assists?
