Steven Goff is reporting this rumor. Interestedly he was drafted by the Scum in 2007 but decided to go to Europe so they don't own his rights.

@SoccerInsider just posted the following: "Luis Robles to New York Red Bulls"

Haven't seen any other commentary on this, but he's experienced, capped by the USMNT, and youngish (mid 20s). I'd feel much more confident about our goalkeeper situation with him than a complete unknown (which we have now.)

"Obviously, I want to make a living (in soccer), to say the least," he said. "There's so much you can accomplish in the soccer world, and right now I'm focused on having a good season with the Red Bulls. Ultimately, our goal is to win the MLS Cup, and I see no reason why we can't." - #4 Tyler Adams

Saw it too and posted to the random player thread...

Is there any other evidence to suggest this besides a random Goff tweet? German press? Blog posting?

Update: Goff says "Just something I've heard as a legit possibility."

Throw it on the rumor mill MF.

He has 1 cap for the U.S.: 2-2 tie with Haiti during 2009 Gold Cup. As a result he would probably need to go through the allocation draft.

IIRC, he was terrible in that game. But... small sample size.

Maybe not... we'll see.

Either way, this would ease most of my nerves regarding this team. Offseason has been great other than not addressing the goalkeeper position. Starting the season with an unknown would be a disaster IMHO.

Are you suggesting that Robles is a known?

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Certainly not.

Where things calm down for me though is that I feel much better about one of these guys being a legitimate player.

And GK is a position that I would like to cheap out at. In any salary cap sports league, you have to identify positions that you want to go cheaper at because you believe they don't have the high importance of other spots.

My prediction would be Vuolo turning out solid though. Guy seems to have the right mentality and just sounds like a pro.

I'm suspect because the clips didn't show him taking goal kicks.

Wow! Talk about an empty stadium in the game against Ingolstadt. Harraby would have a field day counting empty seats there.

He reminds me of Nick Rimando. How tall is he?

He's more proven than Vuolo... has played 50 games in a decent league and was identified by the USMNT.

It's not amazing, but it's better than current option than starting someone who is a veteran of... Finland.

Not sure but he is suspended for the remainder of his contract by KSC fwiw. KSC is second to last in teh 2nd Bundesliga, and he has only had 5 appearances with 13 goals against. Previous season he had 23 appearances and let 44 through.
Garbage.
