Red Bull is the obvious choice every year, and they are already a 3-time winner

Klimala sucked, and if he scored one of those two breakaways, the season is not over

Tarp master de Grandpre for letting the team slip into relevance?

Amaya is probably not important enough to warrant this

That's exactly why he does deserve it imo.

Klimala didn't live up to his price tag but he was at least serviceable. Amaya came in with similar expectations and left a gigantic black hole in the attacking midfield spot.

If Amaya could have at least been serviceable and pitch in 10 goals+assists (pretty low bar for an AM), think of how many points we now take from all those tight draws/losses. We were only 6 points from 2nd place in the East, with those goals we are easily fighting for that spot.

Amaya may have been able to play at Klimalas level, but he had a lot more competition (Clark, Omir, Wiki, CCJ, even Fabio) for his position. Klimala only had to beat out Fabio and Barlow. Klimala is the Bum.

Klimala contributed to 38% of all the goals scored this season by RBNY. Disappointing, not clinical, rubs people the wrong way, sure.

Bum of the year, no.

Im going to nominate Hamlett. Egbo, Pendant, Jørgensen, Jensen still wreaking havoc on the ability to build a roster. While he was exonerated in the Kaku dealings he still left enough of a gray area in the matter in the way in which he informed Kaku and agent that Kaku made his getaway with no transfer fee.

Hamlett "won" last year, so unlikely he'll get it back-to-back, especially since he got sidelined, Kaku's email be damned.

Klimala, can't finish when it's most important, dives way too much and isn't even any good at that.

Really want him gone, such a shame they spent all that money on him when there has to be so many better options out there.

The roster construct was awful, but can 'Poor Financial Decisions' be a contender?

MdG is in charge of the business side. Up until sending the supporters to Philly, IMO he was a clear choice. Although it is hard to put butts in seats when we didn't have many, if any, players that a casual fan would recognize.

Klimala wasn't good, but he did score 8 goals and had 7 assists. $5M was a poor financial decision. Still better than the $2M on Jorgensen.

Amaya was a disappointment but we overspent for him too. Poor financial decision.

We kept players here like Pendant, Egbo, Jorgy, Jensen due to their contracts. Poor financial decisions.

The media/MLS pundits were awful too.

We had the least goals scored of any team that made the playoffs. Our 39 goals were 2 more than Cinci and 4 more than Austin, which had the least. We were a whopping 26 goals behind league leading NE.

Sure, Klimala had a hand in a good percentage of the goals we scored, but, Id argue more importantly, he was the biggest reason we scored so few.

A little bit the fact that all those guys ended up being considered competition backs my vote for Amaya, cause I don't think they weren't supposed to be. They spent $1M in allocation and gave him an immediate starting spot, that was supposed to be his all year.

The flip side of this is like saying Klimala deserves credit for keeping Tom Barlow out of the starting lineup

"The Offense"

One of the worst offenses in the league by far. Our two strikers were the worst and second worst in the league in terms of G - xG.

No offensive ideas at nearly any point for the entire season. And we go out of the playoffs with one shot on goal in 120 minutes.

It's not just Klimala or Fabio, it's bad chance creation, bad finishing, and made the entire strategy of creating turnovers in the opposing third a non-issue for our opponents because we would nearly never capitalize on them.

If you scan YouTube looking for Bradley Wright-Phillips, youll find numerous goal compilations, a few interviews and, eventually, an excerpt from the grime mixtape series Lord of the Mics.

Let's add Thelwell to the nominations list, but he is not gonna get it... this year.

If he gets it next year, we're gonna have a major problem.

"The Offense"

This is a great option. Our goalscoring average in 2021 was (1.11 Goals per game) which ended just above 2009 (.90) and 1999 (1.0), our 2 worst seasons by far.
