There is a special place in Hell for the repulsive pile of dogshit who made this decision. Absolutely disgusting.

Of course we want the team to do more but keep this in mind: The fact that we were running away with that game in Chester untill he got hurt and then everything went straight to hell wasn't a coincidence.

#1359636 Random Player Name Thread 2020

Nope, we're busy scouring the UK to find players because that region is where you will constantly find undervalued players. It's not like player values in the UK are ridiculously inflated to an absurd degree and that if you are preaching moneyball bullshit it's just about the worst place in the world to be scouting or something.

#1357288 Kemar Lawrence wants out

Posted by sabremike on 25 November 2019 - 07:50 PM

I think the clear implication is that the lack of spending and refusal to give Taxi a raise is a RBG directive. Hamlett isn't not spending money out of his respect for the Red Bull corporate balance sheet, he isn't spending money because Red Bull has not given him any money.  I thought Hamlett's comments about going to his bosses and making the case for any signing was very telling.  Hamlett is trying to send a clear message that his hands are tied when it comes to the check book. Obviously Hamlett and Armas do not want to lose Kemar, unfortunately for them, they do not have the power necessary to give him what he wants.

Hamlett may or may not be a good sporting director, but I do not think any sporting director would be able to do very much facing the same constraints.

If this is the case (and I'd certainly bet that way) than for the good of the league Garber has to do everything in his power to force them to sell. This shit is barely tolerable in Bumblefuck markets let alone the largest market in the US.

#1357277 What would it take for Red Bull to sell?

Posted by sabremike on 25 November 2019 - 05:54 PM

Yeah. Still no guarantee that you'll win a knock-out cup tournament. LAFC was supposed to win MLS Cup this year...and if LA collapsed then NYCFC was supposed to win MLS Cup this year...unless they were defeated by Atlanta, who was supposed to defend their MLS Cup title this year...unless Toronto or Seattle found some way to rekindle their recent dynasties...

"There's no guarantee" is quite a shitty defense of an ownership that couldn't be bothered to get a difference maker. They literally left a DP slot open for nearly two seasons.

#1357166 Lampard sucked

My favorite Fat Frank moment will always be of him making his debut in the middle of the Red Bull Wedding. "And making his NYCFC debut Suuuuuuuuuuper Frank Lampard!!!" *place erupts in boos". It was beautiful.

#1357122 "There is no Offseason" 2020 Thread

even if you don't have faith in Hamlett I think Ralf is much more involved these days to at least identify - closing the deal is entirely different.
I keep saying they go full Dallas and triple down on youth.  I'd be surprised if they bring anyone over 24 in (unless already a RBL/RBS player)

Why copy the teams that actually win stuff when you can copy a team that has won fuck all???

#1357034 What would it take for Red Bull to sell?

Posted by sabremike on 21 November 2019 - 02:36 PM

So we will put our trust in Don Garber to find a better, more competent owner than an owner who runs two Champions League level soccer teams in Europe? Who is going to have a better resume to run a successful soccer team than an owner that already runs two incredibly successful soccer teams?

I am not saying a new owner would be worse. I am saying they are more likely to be worse than better. Columbus, DC United, Orlando, Austin, Real Salt Lake, Montreal, Houston, and Cincinatti have all either entered the league or changed ownership since 2010 and have worse owners than Red Bull.

Now that I think of it, I cannot think of a single time in MLS history when a the sale of a team has translated into increased success for the team besides when Red Bull bought the Metrostars. That is to say, the best precedent for having a new owner improve your team in the history of MLS, is for Red Bull to buy your team. The best owners (LAFC, LAG, Seattle, Portland, Toronto, Atlanta) in the league have all either been the original owners of the team.

There is simply little reason to believe a new owner would be an improvement, other than blind faith.

New owners could make us be something other than an advertisement for their stupid shitty product, so there's that. And I can't even comprehend claiming the Columbus owner (who saved that team and is thus one of the biggest heroes in American soccer history) is worse than the soda jerks.

Garber, at MLS Cup halftime: "passionate owners".

If only.

I wasn't watching the game because it was Aliens vs Predators (whoever wins we all still lose) so can you provide context for the comment? Was it a general comment about ownership leaguewide or did he actually have the balls to say that specifically about the soda people?

#1353155 The Fire Chris Armas Thread

Posted by sabremike on 01 September 2019 - 10:54 PM

Shep probably jumped the shark a while ago, but its been even worse this season. The fact that anyone in this fanbase gives his opinions any credence is mind boggling.

Murillo is his whipping boy, Kemar was getting killed by him
yesterday. Long and Parker have been ass all season and havent had anything said about them, he gushes over Robles who is a great shot stopper but has been awful  as a distributor his entire time here and its not clear how good of a captain he is.

Im also always amazed that people who have played and or watched this sport for years havent learned anything about tactics and the importance of a coach on tactical clarity. Look at the job Almeyda and Arena have done for SJ and NE, watch the 2018 version of this team and the 2019 version and tell me the manager has no influence on whats going on.

Yes, everyone knows a goalie's primary responsibility is distributing the ball and not preventing it from going into his own freaking net. Jesus Christ.

The way that Armas has managed this half against City is appalling.  Score once and bunker poorly.

We've completed 56% of our passes.

Shouldn't the Nazis be the ones bunkering?

This is the stupidest team I have ever seen at just about any pro level of the sport.

Robles saved his dumb teammates once again.

Agree with mcsoccer and
My guess is Murillo is/was mouthing off sulking half assing it in practice. Its a message to him step it up

keep in mind we didnt need that as we had created many chances without him.
Only used Murillo for injury and helped when we were stalled .
That being sad I would give Murillo a start this week although we may not have a choice.

Buck getting absolutely immolated and abused on virtually the only chance NE had all night cost us a game we absolutely HAD to win. There's no way of getting around that.
