Despite rule changes, engineers still think it will be flat out.

Exciting race though. There are now 4 drivers still alive for the championship, Rubens, Button, Webber & Vettel. Should be an exciting last four races. Also hats off to Adrian Sutil, who brought the Force India Mercedes in 4th place. Not bad at all.

Renault chooses not to fight race-fixing charges
Wow. That crash ended up deciding the drivers championship last year. Prior to the crash, Massa was running away with the race. They brought out the safety car and stacked up all of the cars (while the pits were closed - stupid rule). Once pit lane opened, Massa (and a lot of other drivers) dove for pit lane. Ferrari rushed the pit stop and released Massa while the refueling hose was still attached. Massa went from first to last. Alonso (who had pitted) jumped near the front due to all of the pit stops. If the accident doesn't happen, Massa probably builds enough of a gap that he can pit and get back out in 1st.
An extra 10 points (hell, even an extra 1 point) would have given Massa the drivers championship last year.
Based on the refueling strategy for Alonso (very light fuel but starting in 15th place), it seems like they had to plan for the safety car to come out. Was Alonso in on it? He was implicated on the whole spy-gate crisis when McLaren was penalized all of their constructor championship points for the season and was fined $100,000,000. If he knew about this going into the race (and it seems likely that he would), who is going to want him as a driver? Who is going to ever hire Nelson Jr. because he agreed to go along with it in the first place?
Unbelievable stuff.

This is a tough one for me. I've never like Alonso, but have been a huge Ferrari fan since I attended the Long Beach Grand Prix with my dad back in the 70's. Well hopefully Massa will make a full recovery and I can cheer him on next year (if I don't abandon F1 entirely).

I don't care for Alonso either. However, it will be interesting.
It seems like I haven't watched a race for the whole summer. My DVR records them, but by time I catch up on all my soccer matches I don't have time for the race.
I need to start taking it easy and staying at home some weekends. Maybe its because I hate Jenson Button.

Plus hats off to Brawn GP, from the ashes of Honda/BAR rise the 2009 constructor champions. Unbelievable.
I was hoping Rubens would have won it, but Jenson's victories in the beginning of the season proved to be insurmountable.
