More money and business for the stadium. Good stuff.  Grounds crew going to have to work OT to keep pitch tip top though.

#1356747 Thierry Henry to Montreal

He's still a better player than pretty much their whole roster.

Good win. Maybe a little lucky? PTFC had several chances come close. But we'll take it. Big game coming up on Sunday!

When are they gonna give the USMNT jobt to Berhalter? What are they waiting for?

Making it to the semi-finals was still a great achievement. And only losing 1-0 aggregate, as opposed to getting blown out, I can live with that.

#1312003 Crew to Austin, TX?

Posted by The Falcon on 19 October 2017 - 09:28 AM

I understand Austin is one of the biggest markets without a pro sports franchise, but I think there's a reason for that.  UT has that city locked up.  We always talk about keeping the MLS schedule as is because once football season starts, all eyes focus on NCAA and NFL.  In Austin, that rings so true.  Longhorn football is it there.  No sense in competition IMO.  I'd consider relocating to other cities like San Diego, Nashville or St. Louis before Austin.

#1297398 Metro - Atlanta Game Thread

I live in Atlanta now and was at the game.  Like to say what an awesome time I had.  Thanks to VA for the great tailgate party pregame. Thanks to ESC for the ticket. I think the stadium staff underestimated our numbers. Three rows wasn't enough.  We brought the noise throughout the game. Those Atl newbies got a lot of learning to do on how to be proper supporters.

I'd also like to give a shoutout to those who traveled down for the game.  I met some folks who said they travel to every away game!  That's insanely awesome. You guys are true supporters. I hope to travel to the see the team once on the road this year, even if it's coming back up to RBA for home game.

Forza.

Do like how much attention the Guardian has given MLS over recent years, though.  Nice of them to give us some love since the EPL is there and is always touted as top three leagues in the world.

Is this the Frankenstein effect?  Was Ali killed by his own creation: Jesse?  Did Jesse do so well, the powers that be back in Europe stepped over Ali and said to Jesse in those meetings, you're the Don now?

Godfather Part II here.  Ali (Fredo) got stepped over by Jesse (Michael) because that's the way Pop (Austria) wanted it.

#1294467 Abang's loan terminated

Kinda prefer Abang over Robbie Findley.  Abang is young and has talent.  Needs some coaching up, how to hone his skills.  Findley, IMO, just sucks.

#1292787 Jesse Marsch is in serious talks to move to Red Bull Salzburg

Posted by The Falcon on 12 January 2017 - 08:06 AM

What's the difference between Sporting Director and Technical Director?  Happy for Jesse.  Sorry to see him go.  Many talk about continuous revolving door and lack of consistent leadership.  You're right.  This time it's weird because normally teams make managerial changes when the team does poorly.  But in this case, the team has done well and changes are being made.  It's too bad.  But that's the way of the world.  RB Soccer is just like a corporation.  And over here, we're the American branch of an Austrian based company.  Our manager is successful and is getting promoted to HQ in Europe.  No different than dozens of companies worldwide who promote foreign nationals back to their HQ wherever that be.  One concern is that Armas learned well from Jesse and is ready to step in without skipping a beat.  And if Hamlet is promoted away from the bench, I don't have a problem leaving Woly with RB2, he's doing great with them.  Get Chris some solid assistants to keep our style of play fluid and work on the defense.  Someone mentioned Wade Barrett.  Sure, get him.

#1292278 New chants / song ideas

Posted by The Falcon on 29 December 2016 - 07:59 AM

Our own rendition of The Liquidator, like they do at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea.  They sing it as the teams walk out.  Since we have the MLS anthem then, I propose during warm-ups and instead of singing "Chelsea" we sing "Metro".  YouTube it when they did it in Munich for reference.  That'll get the whole stadium into it.

#1280681 Isn't it nice how many players we have who truly love the team and fans?

Posted by The Falcon on 27 May 2016 - 10:50 AM

Indeed.  And it's nice for the players too, to feel comfortable with an organization, part of something great, a  nice community that they can buy a place for their family and not just rent one while their family stays behind in their last city or where they maintain a primary residence.  Good things are going on at this club right now.  One of the best stadiums and training complexes in the league, money, passionate.  Do all other clubs have what we have?  Nope.

Forza.

#1278321 Is it time to panic?

Kinda hard to score when you shoot it right at the goalie.
