At least Boston lost in the Stanley Cup final.

Lade is fine if we play with 5 guys on D

Lade should get an assist on the third NE goal.

There was plenty of blame to be shared among the back four. The loss of Tarek hurt.  Insinho came on and ran around and through everyone.  Lade was beat, but so was Royer.  That goal was deflected past Robles by Nealis, and Parker made the whole play onside. Nealis conceded the PK, and no one covered Ilsinho on the rebound.

I think the hype around the Cosmos name is misjudged (who under 45 even remembers them?)

Guy in his 20s sitting in front of me at the Mets game today was wearing a Chinaglia Cosmos jersey!

My worry is we become like Southampton

We will not be like Southampton.
They have never won the league.
But, they have won a cup!

This rumor is total garbage.

You should be familiar with total garbage.

To think, if the previous owners hadnt had such an overinflated opinion of their brand, they would have been MetroStars.

FTFY

MLS was decidedly the factor, not those things.

MLS is not perceived as top-level soccer, whether in Harrison, the Ironbound or the NYC metro area.
Until that perception changes, it was not be a major attraction to the average fan of the sport.

terribly sloppy on the ball all game, despite the result

77% of 545, 420 completed.
Similar to poor rates in other matches.
69% in Cincy win, 78% v. VAN, 65% v. ATL, etc.
RSL was 63% of 328, only 207 completed.

Decent crowd last night.
Post-game fireworks probably helped.
Noise level after the goals was excellent.

Will they ever win the Prem?

Maybe they coordinated talking points.

Maybe?

MLS diehards have this romantic view of Open Cup/CCL, treating it like the FA Cup/UEFA Champions League.

Well, excuse us!
Or, look at the clubs who have taken the USOC seriously.
We went to KC and saw a full house for the USOC final, which they won.  Seattle, SKC, Chicago, DCU, LA Galaxy have all won multiple times, and their fans care!  Even Philly have been trying (0-3 in finals in last 4 seasons) and if they win, they will have one more cup than us.
BTW, outside of the UK, cup competitions in Europe are not big draws in the early rounds either.  In most countries, only when the top clubs become involved in the later stages.
