We'll see about the huge transfer fee.. He's on a homegrown contract signed at the end of 2015 and I'm guess runs though 2018. Considering there seems to no competition for his services even though he is considered very talented, I would be surprised if we get any more than a $1mil or anything at all since he's going to rb and possibly after his contract runs out at the end of the season. He's valued at 750k british pounds at tranfermarket for what that's worth.

Sometimes I think the entire Red Bull existence has been some 19 year old kids football manager save file he only plays when he comes home drunk. - 'Mibabalou'

New York Red Bulls midfielder/defender Tyler Adams will soon move to sister club RB Leipzig, six sources have told MLSsoccer.com.

The sources said that it’s most likely that Adams will remain with New York for the remainder of the MLS season before joining former Red Bulls head coach and newly-minted Leipzig assistant Jesse Marsch in Germany. It’s possible that the 19-year-old could be sold to Leipzig in the summer transfer window and loaned back to New York for the remainder of the season or that he could be sold to the Bundesliga side in the winter transfer window in January.

Some journalist is getting lazy with sourcing his articles.  Only six sources have confirmed it:)

Do you speak German? After Leipzig poached a coach and a player, should fans of this website be worried that youre next?

Transfermarket is nonsense for American players who have never been transferred before. Last article I read estimated a transfer fee of $5 million.

I'm with you being nervous about when his contract ends and him going on a free. That said Murillo transfer should definitely net us a 7 fig profit.

Quote from article:

"One source said Adams’ transfer fee could exceed $5 million. Because Adams is a Homegrown Player, New York will receive 100 percent of any fee. Up to $750,000 of the fee can be used as General Allocation Money, while the remaining balance can be used to help pay a current or new Designated Player or for general investment in the sporting side of the team."

I hope they do the sale now/loan back to NY option.  We could turn around and use that money now to buy this Pusetto guy everyone is getting hot and bothered about.

They are not buying pusseto. We blew our load on kaku. Marsch left to be an assistant and Adams is gonna sit on the bench. We will not win this year.

More Alex Muyl anyone?

We should sell Kaku too.  We could probably get a lot of money for him as well.  We might not have any of our best players left but we will have a pile of money to try to fill all the holes.  /s/

I know it is basically inevitable but I am really getting sick of losing our best players before they even fully mature.

Great academy, it's gonna happen. As long as they're getting 2-3 solid years and a nice cashflow **that gets wisely, and aggressively reinvested towards winning cups/shields** from sales. RB better spend on a third DP after the midseason coaching swap.

Sell Murillo, get the ~$650k in GAM, and spend the rest to pay for the 3rd DP. There! Easy!

True.  Which is one reason attendance and TV viewership for domestic soccer has been on a long slow decline in South America for a couple decades.  It has an incredibly draining effect on fan excitement and engagement in the long run.

I can live w being a selling league, its just frustrating to have never won a cup and then to keep shooting ourselves in the foot when we do have a chance. Lose one guy here/there, I can deal w it. Ream, Miazga, etc. Id like the guys to stay long enough to give us a chance to win once, then go. Its not always possible, but that isnt too much to ask.

How many of us sat there for basically a decade between 2001-2010 with barely a glimmer, aside from 3 good games one October in 08 (off a middling year), hoping for the day when wed be a dominant team ONE day in the future?

This season started off pretty well, but has gone really sideways in the last few weeks (from an optics/impending doom perspective).

Lose Valot, Jesse leaves, Murillo leaving, Adams getting sold... and its only July 12th. Fuck this month already.

these midseason moves explain why we needed roughly 20 players at the beginning of the season who could "start". technical staff couldn't have foreseen both Duncan and Valot going down for the yr.

knew adams would be leaving, i guess i'd like to milk the largest transfer fee possible so that not only would we get the $750k GAM, whatever else reaped from the transfer can offset a DP's salary or transfer (or is it just the salary). factor in Murillo's $650k GAM from his sale, that's a bunch of $$$ to pay for a 3rd DP, w/o technically breaking the bank.

i mean, our friends down at Huracan lost their starting striker (Abila) and their LW (Kaku). what do they do? they get an acquisition or two, and fight their way into the Copa Libertadores. gonna miss Tyler once he leaves, but that's just the way the modern game works.

IF a player is sold this window, there is zero excuse not to find a replacement.

I assume Murillo is sold. Too much smoke not too.

If Adams leaves after the season, no harm, no foul. This was inevitable dating back to last season. We talked about being lucky to have him post 2018.

“No, nothing,” Adams said of RB Leipzig, according to the Athletic. “The earliest that they have talked to me was when I was 15 and I went over for that little trial stint with Sean [Davis]. Other than that, you see guys get loaned here and stuff like that, but no contact about me going there right now.

“I just know that 100 percent I’m here for the whole season,” he added. “What happens at the end of the year, we’ll see, but I think that my focus is on what I’m doing right here right now.”
