Anyone know anything about this kid?  First I've heard of this.  Apologies if this has been posted already, but I didn't see anything.

So he is DC homegrown? Wonder why he is choosing to come here as opposed to staying with the Scum...

I was going to ask what he would add to our portfolio of young midfielders... then I saw him shoot from outside the box

I just wonder how someone with much potential can't make the first team on a shitstorm like the Scum.

some kids have a preference in terms of development path.

he wants a big transfer to europe, maybe, a la Miazga and the potential ones in Murillo/Adams.

Didnt he also pass on Taxi? Long may Benny reign in DC.

This move is probably a combination of DC not valuing youth and Red Bull believing in and regularly playing guys like Muyl, Valot, & Etienne. If you were a young player, is there a team youd rather play for than us?

It might not necessarily be ineptitude on DC United's part -- as much as I'd love it if it were. Goff's tweet said he left UVA earlier this year to go pro, but "going pro" and "signing with DC United" are two different things. Maybe he thought he had a shot abroad? Or even a deal and it fell through? We don't really know.

Plus, he could just be a RBNYII signing. Though, DC is launching a USL team, and if he needs some seasoning, they could have just stuck him there.

but the kid wants something else. can't say that i blame him. track record is great here for developing future professionals.

Never a bad time to sign a young player with some upside.  Hopefully he develops into a useful player.

There's definitely a back story here as it said he left school earlier this year and hasn't been picked up by anyone yet.

Perhaps he had a falling out with DC over something (it happens) or like others suggested perhaps there isn't a good reputation of homegrown experience with DC.

RBNY is right near the top of the league in terms of giving young players chances. For all we know, he knows Muyl, Adams, etc. Either way, ease him into USL 2 and see if there's something there. Kid has talent... there's no denying that from the video clips.

"Obviously, I want to make a living (in soccer), to say the least," he said. "There's so much you can accomplish in the soccer world, and right now I'm focused on having a good season with the Red Bulls. Ultimately, our goal is to win the MLS Cup, and I see no reason why we can't." - #4 Tyler Adams

seemed to have pretty good defensive instinct - granted it's against NCAA level players.  Tyler is not long for this team, so between Davis, (hopefully) Casseres, and now this kid, we should be ok in the center of midfield.
