I think preseason starts 3/8 - theres a 1 week covid quarantine that started monday, if I recall correctly.

Hopefully he'll only miss a couple days of preseason.

Still want another LB and a creative attacker, but glad the team is 90% set before preseason.

so players could quarantine prior to March 1st and start group training then buy March 1st was when a mandatory quarantine began for a mandatory March 8th start

Would be tough for any of these guys, coming from abroad, to self-quarantine if they have to jump on a plane to get here. Unless Papa RedBull is going to fly them via private jets, these guys will miss a couple of days in the beginning of training camp.

Harper also is American so if Celtic knew agreement would be reach eventually he could already be in America and quarantined before.  Just needed fee to finalize ITC process but i wouldnt be surprised they announce him and then show some pics of him at training already.

As initially reported by

, 19 year old USYNT attacker Cameron Harper has at last joined #RBNY. All that’s left is a club announcement to formalize the deal. The California native will join the squad for the 2021 season on a first team deal.

I'm not really seeing the point in signing Harper.

Assuming him and Fabio are it in terms of forward signings this winter (seems unlikely they would pursue another forward after this), Red Bull goes into the season with four projects up front: Barlow, White, Fabio, Harper.

Can any of them be counted on to score 12+ goals?

I don't understand why this team can't spend on a veteran, experienced DP striker. That's the need here and Red Bull keep signing these projects.

They basically replaced Mines or Stroud with Harper.  What point is hard to see?  Yeah they need to get a DP attacker but anytime you can get talented domestic players in MLS you do it and ask questions later.  Its hard to win in this league without having a top 10 US player in MLS (see Chad Marshall, Nagbe, Jordan Morris, etc.)

Yeah, I never mind getting guys like Harper, we just needed a no doubter on top of it all.  At least one no-doubter.

Exactly. Interested in seeing what Harper offers, but he is still a young project. And there are quite a few of those here already.

And maybe it's just me, but with a team built around developing young talent, isn't there extra value in bringing in a seasoned high profile veteran that has won big to show the kids the way?

I sound like a real company man - I agree, but I do think you want the "right fit" for season high profile veteran.

For instance, I don't think I'd call a guy like Haksa a "seasoned high profile veteran" exactly, but I do think he would be a good fit.

Maybe not a veteran in the conventional sense, with this team, but a player who has performed at a high level as a professional.

Harper hasnt played much soccer this year so its difficult to know how well hes going to adjust despite the fact that he is well regarded with his status as a YNT player

No doubt. I'm thinking more in the range of a former attacking starter on UCL-winner with plenty still in the tank. If not an Henry, a Pedro or a Nani level player.

if all you want is a vet that can mentor Royer is your guy.  But i'd rather just get a 23 y/o stud.

I'm thinking that Harper is better than both White and Barlow.  So he may be a project in the sense that he's young and hopefully will improve a lot with RBNY, but he also improves the team immediately.  Although the improvement may be marginal.
