we are talking abt commitment contracts and usl contracts that are outside the MLS world.

There are no "commitment contracts" for USL. And giving 12-year-old USL deals is still an exceptionally stupid idea.

Something I'd really like Struber to weed out is the cheap yellow cards. It's one thing to make a tactical foul or be a bit too physical while trying to press. It's another to get them for time wasting, getting baited into confrontations after whistles, or general stupidity. We've had way too much of that shit this season.

So your new argument is that the front office should not be held responsible for losing talent. You want to blame the system that they helped create instead.

At that rate, why hold anyone responsible. They are only losing talent.

Imagine they did this with the first team. All our players leaving as free transfers to European leagues. Would you still blame the system or would you blame the front office?

My argument is that losing top talent is inevitable and in fact they've done a pretty damn good job recruiting and staving off the Sharks with Adams, Tolkin, Clark, that you are demanding that Hamlett/McCafferty conduct business that is illegal under the mechanisms of MLS, and that the concept of signing 12-year-old's to professional contracts helps neither the team nor the player.

But if you weed out kids who want to be a pro player but may prefer Dortmund/Chelsea etc. to RBNY, you're going to lose quality kids to NYCFC, QBFC, PDA .  And not all of those kids are going to end up in Europe; some will end up signing with the local club, but it won't be RBNY.

Right. If we had employed this method we'd have lost Kyle Duncan forever, in all likelihood. There have been rumors about Olosunde...

exactly - Jordan Sancho went from Man City to BVB 2

like said earlier - maintain good relationships and maybe the kid Duncan's it later.

Yeah and along similar lines, let's also discuss this: If you lock a kid into an agreement and 6 months later he finds out Dortmund wants him but his hands are tied, it's going to create a stink, you're going to have an unhappy kid and parents, and future families are going to be hesitant to join the academy and may instead opt for an IMG or another MLS team that doesn't hold its players hostage. The occasional top talent going to Europe isn't a reason to fuck up a system that for the most part works.
