"Reports have emerged that Barcelona striker Thierry Henry is set to snub a lucrative move to Manchester City in favour of the American side New York Red Bulls after the World Cup 2010 in South Africa.

According to the Daily Mail, Henry will look for a new challenge after the World Cup with the 32-year old excited at the prospect of playing football in one of the world's biggest cities in New York.

Following David Beckham's footsteps, Henry is reportedly ready to turn down a chance to return to the Premier League with Manchester City. After watching Arsenal demolish Blackburn 6-2 at the Emirates Stadium and receiving a rousing reception, Henry is reportedly uninterested in an England return.

With reports in England and Spain full of stories regarding Manchester City striker Robinho moving to Barcelona, it is rumoured that the Catalan giants are willing to offer Henry as a make-weight to land the Brazilian as early as January.

However, Henry is reportedly uninterested in the potential move, as the New York Red Bulls are desperate to land the striker. Missing out on this year's MLS play-off's with star Juan Pablo Angel out injured, Henry is the American side's main target in the transfer window.

With friends David Beckham and Freddie Ljungberg already stars in the MLS, Henry is said to be thinking heavily of a North American move after the World Cup this summer
."

If this becomes true and he is set to come next summer, do we keep JPA as a DP for 2010?

I feel if RBNY realizes they can land Theirry before the 2010 season starts, they should offer JPA league max and search for a DP caliber attacking midfielder. I know JPA has done a lot for us but having 2 DP slots used up on strikers is overkill and pointless when you can't control the midfield or have any creativity. I say let JPA go if he doesnt want to except league max and some allocation money.

Theirry Henry and Joan Pablo would be a dream pairing. If this does happen, and sya he comes in August after the world cup I occuld see the REd Bulls selling quite a few more season tickets than expected. Assuming the team is doing well I can see a few sell outs at Red Bull arena.

Of all the big name players, Thery Henry would be perfect. Can't find fault in the player. Not a giant ego, not a coaches headache.

2010 is JPA's last year of his contact. If he clicks with Henry, re-sign him as a DP.

Next problem, find a midfield that can get the ball to JPA&Henry

It seems Philly fans have signed up on metrofanatic to vote for themselves (in 'What team do you hate more?') . No real fan of this team would vote anything other than DC.

No chance... Henry actually wants to be here. He's dropped a few MLS quotes this season during post match interviews w/ Barca TV. He truly loves the NYC.

If he stays healthy, he'll put Roy's goal record to sleep.

Has anyone had a look at our midfield lately? If we are relying on the shit we currently have to get Henry the ball we'll still be fucked.

As in, not a "locker room cancer". He takes his football seriousley. He makes the rest of the team play better.

I'd worry much more about a Ronaldino.
