Lupul-Koivu-Selanne

Old man line.

I'd have been more impressed in 2003.

Koivu's oft-injured and overrated. I'm glad those asses got him.

Experienced line, sir.

Selanne who only played in 65 games still managed to put up 54 points and score 27 times
Lupes is a 50 pointer in himself who scored 25 times and managed 25 assists
Saku Koivu who is great friends with and plays well (internationally) with Teemu put up 50 points himself with 16 goals and 34 assists.

Three 50 point veterans to play a 2nd line isn't the worst thing in the world. I suppose its better than a 16 point defender and 59 point LW. But Free Agency can only be kind to so many of us.

I'm always up for another bet Bruce.

As strange as it is, I want the Kings to be competitive...mainly so I don't have to answer to poser Kings fans.

"You're a Ducks fan?! Psh, fuck that shit, fuck Anaheim. Go Kings"
"...can you name 1 complete line on your team?"
"That doesn't matter man. I'm from LA"
"Right...and as a proud citizen of LA, you've had a team playing here for 42 years and you STILL can't name me one line"
"What's a line?"

I've got no problem with legit Kings fans like yourself and Big Bill. Knowing this town, the more the Kings win the more educated their "fans" will become.
Not to mention a "Freeway Face-off" where I don't expect us to stick that puck down your throat would be exciting too.

So for all our talent I must admit I'm starting to worry about the 2nd line...in a year or 2 years time. In 2 years when Saku and Teemu retire (I'm thinking they'll stick around for 2 years rather than one) my 2nd line will pretty much be blown up and started all over again.

I was told today by a life long Kings fan "We will be lucky to get the 8th spot. I just hope we are competitive and we get close to the playoffs come the end of the season" Is this true? I thought we had good off season pickups.

Okay, maybe we can squeeze into the 8 spot now.

That's pretty accurate dude. 8th would be a surprise, anything else would be an absolute shock.

I think the Kings are a year or two away from the playoffs. Unless the rookies are able to make a huge impact this year, they just aren't quite there. I think one more strong draft and a few good trades, and we are in the playoffs, possibly into the 2nd round. 2 years of the same could result in a deep run into the playoffs.

Sigh, I miss '93.

A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man.

Problem is we've been hearing that for 7 years.

over-simplification?
there are retard fans everywhere. Trust me I was going to the crosstown duck games at the pond long before the stanley cup runs, when 45% of the arena were King fans. There were plenty of douchebag duck fans who knew nil that weren't named "teemu" or "paul". There still are too. (see duck fan a couple years ago who kept yelling at my buddies and I "call me when the Kings actually play a Stanley Cup final game".)

There are plenty upon plenty of knowledge, and crazy, King fans who have long since been around. Many have just been incredibly frustrated. (still amazed even last year they had an 88% season ticket renewal rate) And there will always be those jumping on the wagon when success comes. it's the beauty that is sports.

Shit, I miss 2001.

::sigh::

The "stunner at staples" game was still one of the loudest and most insane crowds i've ever been a part of...

Do you remember when we used to dance
And incidence arose from circumstance
One thing lead to another we were young
And we would scream together songs unsung
