This makes sense - we'll offload Veron this summer and then use his DP slot on someone else.

I'm ok with this but before we celebrate let's keep an eye on Grella's status.

Fuck the right wing.

hope BWP was able to negotiate a no trade or no trade with agreement clause!!

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

They are allowed to as far as I know so you'd hope BWP would be smart enough to include that.

Still don't get why Dax bitched... (Outside of just being sent to a bad team and a shitty city) Watching the Seahawks talking about moving Richard Sherman (who actually did win a championship) and Sherman is even fine with it, knowing that it's just part of the business. And in his case I wouldn't even trade him considering he is a hall of famer for that team who had a HUGE part in winning a title.

Good for BWP getting paid. I guess his contract was expiring at the end of this year? Seems like we really wanted to have him in his year 33 and 34 seasons. A bit surprised by the move, honestly.

So 1.5 million is the new magic number for his replacement. Good to know. I hope this motivates him to bury more of his chances given to him.

I'd love to know the number of years on that contract.

Two years through 2019, no options.

Not terrible. Just hope the eventual dropoff doesn't happen in 2019.

Legitimately surprised that the team/RB Global/Austria is willing to pay $1 million a year for BWP (the rest being covered by MLS / the cap). I'm not even one of those particularly annoyed at the cheapness of the team, I just honestly thought the team would continue trying to be as "cheap" as possible and maybe even use that Dax space + GAM to further reduce out-of-pocket of costs. I'd love it if this meant the team would break the bank for a high quality player, but I'm very skeptical.

Have to agree. Surprised by the move, happy for BWP.
If anything thought they would just extend at current salary .
