Not in English.
They're website is www.tuzos.com.mx Gosh, I really wish AEG would form a partnership with this team. Not only 'cuz then my 2 teams would be "sisters" but 'cuz the Pachuca FO has worked wonders with this team in the past 7 years. Something like 10 years ago when they were in the lower division they were bought out by Jesus Martinez and he's turned the team into one of the two most consistent teams in Mexico. Hell, if I were Alexi, I'd build a partnership. Doubt it'll happen though as Pachuca doesn't enjoy particularly large crowds and thats' what the MLS-FMF partnerships are about, trying to tap into the fan bases of the Mexican sides -------------------- ![]() It's shit like this that makes us look like assholes. The champs start their title defense in 20 minutes on TV Azteca, channel 54 here in SoCal vs. Cruz Azul
These teams share a bit of a rivalry as Cruz Azul (owned by Cemento Cruz Azul) was founded in the state of Hidalgo, and the team played the games from its early days in Jaso, Hidalgo until they packed up for the capital. Cruz Azul lost 3 key pieces: Francisco "Kikin" Fonseca, Ricardo Osorio and Aaron Galindo to Benfica, Stuttgart and Hercules respectively. Pachuca lost 2 key pieces: Richard Nunez and Nelson "Pipino" Cuevas to Cruz Azul and Club America No major additions to either. -------------------- ![]() It's shit like this that makes us look like assholes. QUOTE(iamthatiam @ Aug 6 2006, 06:05 PM) why does it say "Cemento Cruz Azul" on the pachuca jerseys? Becuase the company is a big sponsor of the team for the reasons explained in my last post. The company still operates in the state of Hidalgo Good game so far, no? -------------------- ![]() It's shit like this that makes us look like assholes. EDIT: You know how I know you're gay? thats not a conflict of interest for them to own one team and advertise on another? they made a big deal about that with roman abromovich in europe because he owned chelsea and advertised on some russian team and they were playing each other.
haha! owngol! yeah, it's a pretty good game. as usual, there is very little defense, but I guess thats what makes the mexican league unique. really, with some of the chances both teams have had I'm surprised the score isn't 4-4 at this point. -------------------- Try not to become a man of success but rather to become a man of value.

ouch
Our own misses killed us. We should've had so many more goals in this one... Not a completely disappointing start [function wise] but our forwards need to start scoring. -------------------- ![]() It's shit like this that makes us look like assholes. QUOTE(iamthatiam @ Aug 6 2006, 06:05 PM) why does it say "Cemento Cruz Azul" on the pachuca jerseys? being that most of the FMF followers that i speak to are chivas fans, i can never get a straight answer on this . . . wasn't pachuca a 'minor leauge' team owned by cruz azul, and they were promoted (years ago)? I could have sworn that i heard that somewhere. regarding the game, cruz azul really looked like they were lacking kikin in the first half. But, I was very pleased with how they began to execute in the second half. |

They were dropped from the top division so they created the 2nd division, and then they created the first division "a" I think because they moved up but FMF wouldn't accept them in the first division. Pachuca has belonged to a million people (including the stadium caretaker at one point) but I don't think Cruz Azul has ever owned them. They were juts a major sponsor for our return to the first division, again largely due to the fact that the original location of their factory [which still operates] is a few miles away within the state. They were finally promoted in the 98 Fall tournament. They picked up Aguirre and a year and a half later, they were lifting their first title. They have since won 3 more and along with Deportivo Toluca, they are one of the most dominant teams in Mexican football's recent history with a combined 9 titles in the past 16 tournaments. -------------------- ![]() It's shit like this that makes us look like assholes. As i recall, wasn't toluca on the verge of being relaged at some point in the past year? that is nuts considering they won the league 12/05. thanks, |

maybe this will help
FMF determines relegation based on team efficiency: The points a team acquires over 2 years + the current year (a total of 3 years) are divided by the league games over the same period of time. At the end of the year the team with the lowest percentage is relegated. Lets see if we can make a chart like this for MLS -------------------------- Points/GP -- Percentage DC United -------------- 141/83 ----- 1.69880 Houston* --------------- 134/83 ----- 1.61446 FC Dallas --------------- 123/82 ----- 1.50000 New England ----------- 120/84 ----- 1.42857 Kansas City ------------- 116/83 ----- 1.39759 Colorado ---------------- 114/82 ----- 1.39024 New York ---------------- 111/82 ----- 1.35366 Los Angeles ------------- 111/83 ----- 1.33735 Columbus --------------- 107/83 ----- 1.28916 Chicago ----------------- 104/81 ----- 1.28395 Chivas USA**----------- 45/53 ------ 0.84906 Real Salt Lake**-------- 43/53 ------ 0.81132 *Houston inherits San Ho's record ** RSL + Chivas have less games 'cuz they've been around less time. *** The table takes into consideration the results of the 04, 05 seasons, and the 06 season to date. Basically it's a mechanism designed to make sure that "big" teams are never relegated. You can have a shitty couple of years, and you'll remain in the top flight. When you consider that there are 6 seasons over 3 years in Mexico. You can have a horrible season, maybe two or three, MAYBE even a fourth, but with one good season all that goes away and you're safe. Usually the teams relegated are the teams that are just promoted. Because as you can see above, they have less games, so their percentage is affected most dramatically. This is a bitch psychologically. You have one bad game and you drop dramatically in the % table. Hope that clears it up a bit. -------------------- ![]() It's shit like this that makes us look like assholes. EDIT: You know how I know you're gay? The Champs take on Chivas Genuine Draft today in a rematch of their epic semi-final match last spring which saw Pachuca win with a last second goal that you can see here.
Pachuca comes into this game with 2 losses on the season, one to Cruz Azul and one to Monterrey. Guadalajara on the other hand comes into this match with 1 win against Santos Laguna and a loss against Deportivo Toluca. Chivas will be without Bofo Bautista (3 match suspension) and Bravo (team disciplinary suspension) while Pachuca struggles to find itself under Enrique Meza who has lost his last 8 matches as a coach in Mexico, still trying to return to his glory days when he coached Deportivo Toluca to 3 straight titles. The game will be on Channel 54 - Azteca America at 3pm -------------------- ![]() It's shit like this that makes us look like assholes. EDIT: You know how I know you're gay? About fucking time!
After its first 6 games defending their title gave 4 consecutive losses, and a draw against newly promoted Queretaro, the tuzos have finally obtained their first victory in convincing fashion. Much of the analysis regading the team was that it was not in poor form, rather that its finishing was tragic and "luck" had not been on their side after having dominated ALL 5 of their first games. The team from the capital of Hidalgo netted 3, putting an end to their woes in front of goal, when they visited tough rival Pumas UNAM at the historic Estadio Olimpico Universitario in the country's capital. With 4 points, the champs sit very low on the table, just 2 spots short of the bottom but so early in the season, these 4 points out of the last possible 6 could be the start of a comeback for the team from the beautiful windy as they race to make yet another appearance in the liguilla. - -------------------- ![]() It's shit like this that makes us look like assholes.
