You know why the defender was doing that?
He was afraid to stick a foot in because it's fucking "Guanamonk" Blanco...and he's known to rock the microphone!

I am one of his skeptics, I know he will do terrible here because I believe he is here for the money, and not to play. I want him to succeed and bring us an MLS Cup, but I know he won't. Also, in that video, the defense was fucking terrible, there was one where he left the ball in front of his legs for about 2 seconds standing there and the defender did nothing but look at the ball. Terrible.

You realize the same thing happens to Mapp every game. Defenders know if they stab they're going to get abused.

I think until Blanco shows otherwise, you have to give him the benefit of the doubt. He's said all the right things so far, and I have no reason to believe he's lying.

Yeah thats a good point, defenders seem to give mapp a lot of space I would imagine Blanco would get the same respect, at least from a lot of defenders.

I'm pretty excited about the signing, though I personally think we could've brought in someone even better. Anyway, I definitely won't judge the man until he's stepped onto the pitch in a Fire kit for a few matches. I remember when I was in Europe there was a lot of talk about the David Beckham deal that brought up so many rumors of "who will sell out next to Major League Soccer?" One name in particular that came up was Trez having talks with the Fire organization, but I've dismissed it. The man wouldn't come here at his age right now and he's well dedicated to Juventus, despite the fact that they don't give him enough opportunities IMO. However, just for kicks, who would've liked to have seen David playing here?

Bring on Blanco!

Yes, please. A forward with some height, and he's got heart.

Which is why two Mexican League teams are in the CCC finals....
Blaco and America take on the Owls of Autonomous University of Guadalajara live Sunday at 4pm Central on Univision. CA has 24 pts, UAG has 19.

I am a skeptic. Part of me believes that signing Blanco is nothing more than a publicity stunt to pander to Chicagoland's Mexican population. Blanco's personality, motivation and fitness all seem to be in question. The man is 34 and has only played 23 games outside of Mexico (not including internationals of course). How good can a guy who never drew interest from South America or Europe really be? That said, Blanco still deserves a fair shot when he suits up for the Fire. Who can say what is in store until it really happens. Blanco could be a bust and $2.5 mil could go down the drain. Blanco could be a mediocre player a divide fans a bit. But Blanco could also be great for the Fire and become a legend among Fire fans. He could even turn the Club America fans onto the Fire. When other teams are signing David Beckham and Claudio Reyna and rumors of Juan Pablo Angel, Cisse and others coming to the MLS it's not suprising to see that not everyone is sold on the Fire signing Blanco. But I hope he does great because if he's good then the Fire can only get better.

Well what does libertadores do for ya? Mexican teams consistantly go deep in that. Pachuca won the last Copa Sudamericana. It's the 5th highest paying league in the world.

you wouldn't want the fire to be in the finals with a chance to play in the world club championship?
