QUOTE(Section 8 El Guapo @ Jul 8 2007, 12:25 AM) There are people still trying to start new chants while the Capo is giving instructions. People in the Capo stand who should not be anywhere near it. From my perspective, these two went hand in hand. The first half was solid. The second half started well and then fell apart. We, as supporters should look to the capo for setting the chant, but that also means that the capo has to be ready with a chant when the old chant runs long or simply dies out. Being a capo looks like an unbelievably grueling job, which makes me have all the more respect for them. However, given the complexity of the position, no one but people who know what they are doing should be up on the stand. And unfortunately, that wasn't the case once or twice last night. Well, McDill decided to spend his whole article licking the TFC fans' balls. Was he as complimentary when we made our trip up there? Probably not, because he still thinks we are the Barn Burners. And part two, did the TFC fans really swipe our motto for their shirts? -------------------- ultras red-side ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- || don't stop living in the red // tradition, honor, passion // stand + deliver

I've already written him a letter, but it would be nice if Eric did too in a more official capacity.
And actually, after watching this match... still not at all impressed with our offense. We need change, quickly. Fortunately it's coming. -------------------- ultras red-side ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- || don't stop living in the red // tradition, honor, passion // stand + deliver

Another sub-par game for the Fire. It's painful to watch them on offense. I don't know how many times I saw Carr fall down, get shoved off the ball, and fuck up opportunities in front of the net - though he wasn't alone. Hopefully, the new manager and Blanco can breathe some life into the team...or it's going to be an even longer summer than it's already been. I'm hoping they start picking up steam once the USOC tournament starts like they did last season. Go Fire!!
Section 8 was the most alive we've been all season! Great job on the tifo (streamers, table rolls, confetti, and !smoke! all looked great) to all who were involved in organizing it. We need to carry this momentum through the rest of the season. To quote Irishoutsider: LET THE HATE FLOW THROUGH YOU! (Honestly, should any advice given by Emperor Palpatine not be considered top notch?) I gotta give respect to Wolfman, The Herr, and Eric for representing Chicago during the pre-game on FSC. It was them and about 40 TFC fans (including a female Canadian who apparently enjoyed touching Wolfman...very nice!) Flags on poles. Are they allowed or aren't they? The FO and Monterrey need to get their act together and communicate. Last week, I walked right in with flags with no problem. This week I was turned away and didn't have time to argue with them because I was trying to get in and help with set-up. Wolfman took my flag and him and The Herr had to go to 3 different gates just to get permission to bring them in...WTF? Did they give TFC supporters that much shit? I doubt it. I'm going to send an email to my season ticket rep and inquire about the confusion. It's amazing to me that a professional organization can have such terrible communication and organization (then again, look at the product they've put on the pitch.) Funny story: A conversation between my brother who was attending his first Fire match and some guy with a mic from (I think) BBC went like this: BBC guy: What do you think about Beckham coming to MLS? Brother: I don't really give a shit. BBC guy: Then why are you here? Brother: (Resumes singing) FI-RE! FI-RE! Why this asshole thought someone from Chicago should give a rat's ass about Beckham during the middle of a Fire vs. TFC match is beyond me. -------------------- "And a gold doubloon if you get us there before nightfall" - Orson Welles

Any fight that would have probably started anywhere shouldnt count as infighiting just because it happened in the section. A few minutes earlier or later, and those girls could have been biting people in line for a hot dog.
"Wearing T-shirts that proclaim a motto of “tradition, honor, passion,” the TFC group began chanting two hours before the game and attempted to out-cheer the Fire’s staunch, if unimaginative, fan group, the Barn Burners." So many things about that make my head hurt. Fuck this guy. Here's a media guide, get a clue, and then you can start talking shit about something you know nothing about. Considering all the new stuff we've added, and then seen other teams pick up, I would hardly call us unimaginative. It is just one mans opinion, but I would love to see that concept die real fast. TFC fans. Ill keep saying it, they deserve all the credit they get. Make all the excuses you want for them, but here's a team that is not playing all that great, and you couldnt tell by hearing their fans. I went over there just before half time, and talked to the fans we met in Toronto for a few minutes. They all had nothing but good thing to say about s8 and were just a good solid group. In my opinion, none of them want to start any shit, and the few I saw that do just want to talk some trash and wind us up. When the game's over, its all "lets go grab a pint." Im not getting on my knees for anyone here, but the section needs to be "back" like it was last night, or it really will be considered second-best to the Canadians. As for the T-Shirts, it was a friendly thing. If anyone saw them, they were grey "#12 jerseys" (12th man I guess) commemorating the trip. The front had the american/canadian flags (or chicago/toronto I cant remember) and the back had their motto "All for One" on the top, and our "Tradition, Honor, Passion" on the bottom. Take their use of that out of context, like our own local hack McDill, and it looks like theyre trying to replace us. |

I still think the media's been laying on the ass-kissing too thick but they showed up and supported their team. I'd like to see more support groups show up from different clubs. Makes the atmosphere in the stadium 10x better than when there's just 5 New England fans sitting there...wait, have that many ever shown up? -------------------- "And a gold doubloon if you get us there before nightfall" - Orson Welles

Well the front of the tees looked pretty cool, and perhaps a nice rivalry to replace the Brimstone Cup.
Hey, why no chatter about Oliveira? Man, if he'd been subbed for Soumare, I think Thiago/Mapp/Oliveira would have been a deadly combination. Franks should have gone in for Carr who was just misfiring all eveing. -------------------- In yr house stealin yr golz
