Heres a thread to serve as one stop catch all for all things BLANCO.
Post Cuauhtemoc Blanco articles, photos, interviews, etc here. ![]() Here's a great article from Sports Illustrated dot com: Blanco ignoring Beckham's shadow. Grant Whal's column on 'Mr. White': Mexico's Blanco looks to bring passion, Fire to MLS News Sun lists The Top Five Hispanic Athletes in USA: QUOTE 1. Cuauhtemoc Blanco: With the signing of Blanco, the MLS and Chicago Fire have brought to the United States the best Mexican soccer player of the last two decades. From ESPN.com: MLS story lines outside of the Beckham show QUOTE 3. Blanco the savior The Blanco Rule has sparked the Chicago Fire to rise from the ashes. The Fire went 3-1-1 in Cuauhtemoc Blanco's first five games, outscoring opponents 9-3, and were a missed Blanco penalty kick away from a five-match unbeaten streak. Paulo Cesar Wanchope has added firepower. And Juan Carlos Osorio has been able to tie things together since succeeding Dave Sarachan as coach. Now the Fire will be tested with five of the next seven matches away from home. And just because it is so beautiful, here is Blanco's GOLAZO at RSL: http://youtube.com/watch?v=NcfBSZbX22E ![]() -------------------- www.theredcardna.org

Good thread idea.
Here's an interview with Blanco (in English and Spanish) in the Chicago Sports Weekly, from earlier this month. Sorry, it's a PDF. -------------------- |

I find that Goal Count in your siganture really dumb Es Brennt. I mean, everyone knows Beckham doesn't score goals, thats not his game. He hooks up the strikers for the goals. Blanco obviously is more of a "#10" so to speak, as he does everything. Passes, Scores, takes Corners, FK's, PK's...

Fairness, credible conclusions, and accuracy will never appear in any of my signatures.
I prefer conjecture, offers of cock, and threats of violence. It makes me happy. (psst, Beckham is expected to be a 10 for the gals, right or wrong, the way they are using him, he will have to do it all for that team) -------------------- www.theredcardna.org

From National Public Radio:
Blanco vs Beckham Check out the link to the gallery of images on the page too. One caption reads: QUOTE "Chicago's most enthusiastic fans sit in Section 8. Most wave the flag for the city of Chicago, but Mexico, Poland and pirates are also represented. "

QUOTE(Es Brennt @ Sep 4 2007, 10:01 AM) I love how Blanco recognizes what he means to the Mexican community here and the responsibility he has to represent and make them proud. He knows he has to give 110% or more each and every game. I also love how he stands up for the immigrant community and what-not and their struggle for respect. I would like to see what he said in its original Spanish that translated to "I will defend this land (Chicago) to the death!" If that isn't a future banner or t-shirt or flag or scarf or *something*, I dunno what is... -------------------- "Any tourist can stand on a concourse, get drunk, and criticize those below them actively supporting the Club. Blanco, and then some.
QUOTE Cuauhtémoc Blanco
The Chicago striker from Mexico has single-handedly energized a moribund Fire squad since he arrived after the Copa América. He has 2 goals and 4 assists in only 7 games. Part of a puzzle that come together with a new coach, Juan Carlos Osorio and Costa Rican striker Paulo Wanchope. Has brought incredible passion to the game each time he steps on the field. -------------------- Remember the bad influences your parents warned you about? Be that person. -SheKawGoFyeR
