pliny the younger is the most popular due to its limited release. The list is accurate based on what is popular, not what is the best tasting.

You drank the maple bacon beer...dumbass!I didn't see Coors on that list? When did beers start becoming so fucking artsy fartsy? Every fucking hipster in L.A., Portland, etc. etc, is either a "brewer" or has a friend who "brews." What a bunch of jerks.

The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which "unskilled people reach erroneous conclusions and make unfortunate choices but their incompetence robs them of the metacognitive ability to realize it." The unskilled therefore suffer from illusory superiority, rating their own ability as above average.

It's like arguing about the best music. You can find something obscure that sounds great. Other people, might never had heard of it but won't give a shit cuz they have their favorite little indies they love and are too busy to get into something they didn't 'discover'. The rest of the population will have the tried and true that they stand buy no matter how good (or bad) it is.
But it is useful to have something like that list to have a point of reference for trying something different occasionally. The problem is, with beer, like music, there's so much shit out there that you pretty much have to live and breathe the stuff to really drill deeply into it. And even then, you'd be hard pressed to sample more than a portion of what's out there and actually be able to enjoy latching onto some you could tout as being among your 'favorites'.
I've personally got 5 or 6 high-brow brews I like to get regularly, 5 or 6 mid-range brews from bigger brewers I also like regularly and a handful of mass market brews I don't mind drinking if it's all there is or when all i care about is getting something cold in me. Outside that, I try to mix in one or two new/different ones every couple weeks.
I'm bidness man. I'm always doin' bidness. I ain't got the time.... but i do have the time to post here all day at work so I got that going for me. Maybe I should start drinking at work.

Maybe I should start drinking at work.
I know a guy who did that. He suddenly found that he had a whole lot more time to drink, but driving home was a bit of a challenge, so he stopped.
I'm getting a bit lazy in that I rely on one of my local taverns who has rotating taps to do my sampling.
That said- they're choose pretty good stuff.
Had the Sam Adam's Spring Seasonal last night, one pint was very tasty, but I don't know if I'd really enjoy a whole 6 pack.
Other than that, my current standbys are:
- Sweetwater 420 Pale Ale (Atlanta, GA)
- Highland Brewing Co. Oatmeal Stout (Asheville, NC)
- Stone IPA
- Seasonals by Sierra Nevada, New Belgium or Sam Adams

When in doubt... go for the old trust worthy on tap.

Perhaps. I actually prefer one of these from Guinness, though. When in doubt... go for the old trust worthy on tap.

The standard Guinness is a little bland... by comparison, mind you. I'd still take your old standby over most any big name swill.

Went there today for a loooooooong lunch. Even ran into LARS peeps.
Two thumbs up. I particularly liked the Point the Way IPA. I'm not an IPA fan in general but that was damn good.
I now have a new lunch haunt.
