QFT. I'm really tired of all the big time writers and such on twitter being all up on their sack. They aren't that good. I would be happier to come up against them in the playoffs than RSL or Seattle.

Took a fairly good look at a couple of San Ho games recently. They are tough to play on a small field. They depend upon physical play to disrupt the opponent mentally as well as tactically. Coach Knackered has his team playing a lot of early balls to the forwards who basically wrestle, push and throw people around constantly (even when the play is nowhere near them). It looks like third or fourth division soccer from the old school and it seems to work quite well in MLS.

It occurs to me that San Ho plays a brand of soccer the refs seem to understand. Perhaps that's a reflection on the general quality of the referees in MLS.

Brian Straus from Sporting News with a Don Garber Q&A

Straus:

SN: I thought the Galaxy’s failure in the CONCACAF Champions League was just about the biggest gut-punch MLS has received, maybe, since contraction. It was devastating. That team, more so than any MLS team ever, both because of its success on the field and in terms of its visibility, was poised to win it. And they fell flat on their face.

Why do you have to bring up old wounds?
Tim Cahill is going to be a Red Bull. Is he still any good? I know a few years back he looked decent but I'm not sure about now.

The key for Cahill will be for him to time his injuries to Henry's healthy spells, so they can have one of them all the time.

Why was Ben Olsen named the coach of the MLS All Star team? Is this something that Garber picks himself or was it based on points up to a certain week? Me not know. I hope the Lando and former English Captain Fantastic David Beckham do good and stay injury free.

Replacement for Peter Nowacko, who was the orginal coach appointed before he was fired from Philly

I'm glad when the friendlies (including the most important bestest ever in Philly) are done and hope no G's get injuried.

Two ideas to improve the ALL STAR thing which is a too important MLS Event to go away = MLS v Liga MX and skill based competitions

I thought traditionally the all-star coach was whoever was in first place a set time before the event. Was it Cleat Face just because the game was in Philly? That's some weak sauce. But if that's how they're doing it, why aren't they just sticking with whoever it is who's currently coaching the Union?

Yep, I watched the All Star Game...
Someone yelled, "Get your hands off my wife" at John Terry. Ha.
Becks flew in at 1:00 am and appears to have no legs.
The Smiling Don is Happy at halftime.
Landon is injury free.
Yes! DeRo finally sets someone up. And, a Becks long ball actually leads to something.
Yeah, it's meaningless and comes at a horrible time in the season; but, I enjoyed beating Chelsea again.
Viva MLS!
Trophy? WTF? I seem to have missed that over the years.

Honestly, the minimal fuck I had about this game went out the door at halftime when Landon was subbed.

I gotta hand it to the Sons of Ben. I don't think I could chant for 90' for a team full of people I rag on 99% of the time. Looking at you Pontius...

I also liked the banner two guys unfurled at the end... "John Terry is a nice guy/Said no one ever".

Yay MLS.

The Smiling Don is Happy at halftime.

Did he say anything about an expansion team for next year? I'm obsessive-compulsive enough that having 19 teams is just annoying. (Eliminating the goats to bring us to an even 18 would also be acceptable).

What number were you wearing Fredo? I couldn't see you on the pitch.

Mindless noise that just blends into the background five minutes in. It's fucking stupid. Hooray, your supporters have vocalized diarrhea!

The return of Slug...

MLS' All-Star game is pretty fucking useless, but I watched it from about the 55th minute on.

I love how the GAM couldn't score sitters while with Fulham against any EPL opposition, but scores against Chelsea in the most dubious fashion.

What I learned from watching this:

Both announcers and players still say "The MLS"...

QFT. As much fun as it is to chant "Phil-a-del-phia clap clap clap clap clap" for 20 minutes of the game, i'll pass
