This is los angeles right? This isn't some backass eastern eroutrash nation. I figure why wait till the season starts. Everyone should have equal access to this goodness. List below where you know there are regular vendors and all shall partake in the goodness that is THE HODA! ![]() Highland Park BAM! out in front of the BofA. There is one conveniently located in the same parking lot Beverage Warehouse every weekend.
There's also one every Wednesday evening and Sunday mornings until about 2:00 at St. Gerard's on the corner of Inglewood and Culver Blvds in Mar Vista |

QUOTE(Gen'Buck'Turgidson @ Feb 26 2008, 02:20 PM) Why is it called HODA? Is it spanglish for hot dog? HODA is the representation of what the word "hotdog" sounds like in the ears of whitie when pronounced by the vendor. Personally, I don't hear the "h" at the beginning, but rather a softer version of the rough breathing of Koine Greek, which is usually rendered with a reverse apostrophe (which I can't figure out how to do on this key board so I'll have to use the regular apostrophe which, of course, means the opposite in Koine). I hear it as 'oddgh But I was unable to convince the others when we discussed this a couple of years ago, so hoda has become the standard rendering. Back on topic, has anyone ever seen a hoda cart in the San Gabriel Valley or Pomona? -------------------- The natural state of the football fan is bitter disappointment, no matter what the score. -- Nick Hornby

QUOTE(Gen'Buck'Turgidson @ Feb 26 2008, 08:57 PM) I have three times as much on my chest though. and next you're going to tell me your groin looks like the amazon! while the name doesn't sound like 'Hoda' after repeated utterances as most vendors are apt to mutter, the first 'hoda' does have the 'h' sound followed by repeated 'oda's. Example: Hoda-oda-oda-oda Vendors do change tone and pace. Some apt for the 'Hodaodaodaoda', while others swith the a and o sounds by putting the o on the back end 'ado-ado-ado' and vary pace accordingly. I guess everyone could have their own way of saying it. I choose Hoda cause that's the way I remember the ladies outside the rosebowl screaming it. True story. The greatest night of my life happened about season two. The g's had just won their game and my friend mauro or my brothe marc, i can't for the life of me remember at present, were leaving the stadium from the main enterance and we stopped to get a hoda. Both of us put in our order and both of us pulled out our money. As I saw my friend with his cash out I decided he was paying and put mine back in my wallet. Sure enough, he did the same. Neither of us realized until we were back at our cars that neither of us had paid. Yup. FREE HODA's and a G's win! Edit: Damn right I stole from the brown man. I also haggle when I go to third world countries. Got a problem? -------------------- STEVE SAMPSON; STILL THE GREATEST COACH OF THE LA GALAXY. EVER. PERIOD. EXCLAMATION POINT. NUF SAID. JAJAJA!
