I was waiting for this news to start the new thread.
(Should be) Captain Duck Teemu Selanne is returning for his 19th and final (probably not) season. This will be his 13th season with the Ducks
With a decent season (60 points) he will overtake Luc Robitaille for 20th in the all time points for the NHL.
Glad to see Teemu come back.

quoth lombardi at the state of the franchise:

The first question, not surprisingly, was regarding Doughty, and that topic has pretty much been covered in a previous post. The only point to add is Lombardi’s comparison of this situation to the one he faced in San Jose when players — most notably Evgeni Nabokov — held out at the start of training camp. Lombardi said he “couldn’t look the three of them in the eye,” because he knew that budget concerns prevented him from making fair offers in negotiations. Lombardi said he had no such qualms in talking to Doughty. Lombardi called the situation “just a bump in the road” and said there is “no question that ownership is committed to winning.”

eh......huh?

Apparently we are not going to pay Doughty more than Ante

I read somewhere that Meehan (Doughty's agent) lost Kopitar to another agent (Crosby's guy), and that the theory is that he's using these negotiations to get a better contract for Doughty than the other guy got for Kopitar as an F-U to Crosby and the other dude... who's name escapes me.

all semantics for dean.

Drew might have the higher cap hit but Anze still has a higher salary making him the highest paid King on the team.

comparable years
Drew Anze
2011-12 $6,000,000 $6,400,000
2012-13 $6,500,000 $6,500,000
2013-14 $6,700,000 $7,500,000
2014-15 $7,000,000 $7,500,000
2015-16 $7,100,000 $7,700,000
Total for 5 years $33,300,000 $35,600,000
AAV for 5 years $6,660,000 $7,120,000

2016-17 $7,450,000

2017-18 $7,600,000

2018-19 $7,650,000

Also, word is he did not get a no-trade clause in his contract (to be confirmed).
