Since the preseason ended last night with a loss to RSL, it is now time to look ahead to Dallas and the first game of the regular season.

Should be a good game with Dallas seeking revenge for last years 'playoff' loss.

I think Meara will get the start and Dax will fill in for Rafa against his former team.

It's the only day of the year we're in first place!

Shameless Plug:

I'll be doing a minute by minute liveblog of the game on The Guardian website. I'll be including tweets and e-mails I receive during the game - and in fact if it's going to work, the more of these the better. If you write in to me, especially if you mention Metrofanatic, I'll try to include them. My twitter feed is @KidWeil and there'll be an email up on the page as well on the day, for longer thoughts.

So if you're going to be contributing your genius to the match thread here, please also consider sending a thought or two to me, on the game, or any other vaguely related subject. Copy and paste what you're adding here even... I'm not proud.

Here's the link to the Guardian US sport page which will be hosting the game (it also has links on there to my season previews for the East and West conference, that I mentioned on that Guardian thread - and from 9am Monday the fan previews of the East, which include the perspective of Dave from Empire of Soccer/Seeing Red on New York)

Miller was subbed off, was it bad enough that he might miss the opening match?

IDK I am feeling pretty confident. We seem to have Dallas' number. They are one of the only teams where we have won more games than lost and we also have not lost to them since 09.

Although having said that I am pretty sure I just jinxed us...

I predict a 2-1 win.

Meara
Solli-Keel-Holgersson-Miller
Tainio
Richards-Ballouchy-Lindpere
Henry-Cooper

Subs: McCarty/Agudelo for Ballouchy/Cooper in 67th. Palsson for Tainio in 80th.

Goals: Cooper with the first, Agudelo with the second. Shea scores for FC Dallas
Die Hard Metro Since 1995... It's been depressing...
