Spike Lee - Inside Man
I gave up on him such a long time ago that I've never seen Inside Man. Is it any good? What is it about?

decent movie, nothing spectacular. thinking about it more, you can make a case for sophia not being a 1-hit wonder for directing the virgin suicides, which in turn makes her NOT a 1-hit wonder. damn you!She also did "The Virgin Suicides"

Malcolm X was epic. The poll is bullshit.I think people are letting their personal feelings/political bias get in the way a little bit. School Daze, Do the Right Thing, He Got Game, 25th Hour and When the Levees broke are all good. I'm not even that knowledgeable when it comes to Spike Lee, for all I know some of the lesser known films could be good as well.

Malcolm X was epic.
For me Malcolm X was a big disappointment. I was really looking forward to that movie.
I thought Spike had a great character and life to deal with. Fantastic actors. I thought the movie was waaay to long and drawn out and basically lacked the fire I was hoping for.
But I suppose we all have different opinions.
Mike V,
My personal opinion about Spike was that I loved him. I was a young guy when he broke and my friends and I thought he was great. We could totally relate with where he was coming from and defended him when older folks stupidly bashed him. I dislike him now because in my opinion the vast majority of his movies really, really, really suck imo. As he got more noteriety early in his career I thought he got very self important.
BTW, When the Levee Breaks and the follow-up were excellent. Very slanted in some places but overall it emotionally gut wrenching and well done.

That's never getting made.Spike Lee is gonna whitewash Oldboy. Fuck him. Lost all respect I once had for him after I heard he was doing that.

Not so much one-hit-wonder, but you what grossly overrated director needs to have his camera taken from him? Tim Burton.

It is Cimino and why you not like "Year of the Dragon"!
Indeed Year of the Dragon is totally watchable- largely due to Mickey Roake's performance. It's well directed by Cimino.
I think all the directors have more than one "hit." I enjoyed Unbreakable more than Sixth Sense and thought Smith's post-Clerks flicks were watchable.
Spike's had more hits than misses and should be nowhere on this list.
