The G's look good in those punjab blue kits. Indeed, the big are clicking and that brings a smile to my face.

Twas good to be back.

Starting to feel like the real Galaxy. Games like this are supposed to go like that, so I like that.

*Starting* to feel that way... doesn't still feel that way yet. But we're moving in the right direction.

I can't complain about Lopes, considering he was plan C from the Chivas bench after the season already had started. Given that perspective, he's been a lifesaver really. It was REALLY BAD before.

Keane is kind of a cock. There's a thin line between demanding excellence from those around you and being a shithead. He has seemed like the latter all year. If he keeps his scoring and level of play up for the second half, I can handle him as the first.

Sitting in the back is weird. It was fun hanging out with Tracer & Griz, until the You're In My Seat nonsense. The Tracers just moved rather than bicker, but bleh. At least the grandparents with their grandkids in front of us were quiet. That's nothing new though, it's better than a uniform covering those seats. I think.

Saunders still doesn't catch as many shots as he should be, we're gonna get scored on by a rebound in an important moment.

I asked Natalie around :15 - Is Donovan playing? I got my answer.... The Big 3 really are starting to click, I think.

It's really hard to hear the chants in the back.

PS - It really was good to be back, even if we got there 15 mins before kickoff and left at half. Almost forgot how much I missed you lot.

i love all the lopes hating...

how quickly people forget how garbage we were before we grabbed him. Also like to forget how AJD was given an opportunity to play with every name on the roster as a CB pairing... and it never worked out. With lopes there, we win games.

Based on results, Lopes is the guy for now.

I agree. I'll take Lopes over Boyens, Meyer, Keat, Leonardo and probably Gaul. Those guys consistently proved how bad they were. Lopes is a step up from them.

...ooooh ooooooooh we are the riot squad...

Based on results, Lopes is the guy for now.

I don't think anyone is disputing this. However, on the average he is still good for one major defensive fuck up per game that usually leads to a goal.

Luckily, the goal margin has been a bit wider these past few games.

Yes, he's a step up from Meyer, Boyens, Keat, etc, but just barely.

I don't know if it's hate so much as acknowledgement of the fact that he's good for one or two serious defensive lapses per game. I accepted this once he became the starter alongside AJ. It's just the reality of the current situation..

If you're not creepin', you're not trying...

Just from this thread:

"What I'd like to see until Gonzalez is 100% is a back line of Dunivant-Death Ray Eyes-Gaul-Franklin"

"I'm willing to give Tommy Meyer another chance over Lopes."

"Fuck Lopes. I really don't like him"

When Meyer, Boyens, etc play the entire back line was a defensive lapse. I'd much rather have it the Lopes way.

As bad as he is, Lopes is a better option than the other guys, although I'd be curious to see Gaul get another look at centerback.

That said, what really gets to me is that Lopes is playing because the G's decided to replace Omar with Edson Buddle.

I see. I guess I have a nonsense filter on or something...

Yes he is the best option at LCB for now... 2nd on that list may be Gaul.

The back line is still very reactionary to a lot of attacks and I don't think Lopes or AJ are leading back there. Hence why when Meyer, Boyens, Keat and even Gaul were back there it looked a lot worse. Lopes is physically a better athlete than all of the aformentioned and that's what he gets by on.

So yeah... 50% Omar and Gaul are still a step below Lopes at this point.

If you're not creepin', you're not trying...

The Galaxy beat the Kids 3-1 and the focus of this thread has been the error in the defense that allowed Cardozo to score. The problem still exists in the midfield in these two areas defensively.

Opponents have had way to much time to measure their crosses from these positions, particularly after a back pass from the corner. The G's used to get away with it more often when Omar was there to clear it out. The fact remains that the G's midfield has to pinch to the middle more than they should. Yallop recognized this and gave the G's a steady diet of service from those areas. The Cardozo goal came from the same pattern. Deep to the corner back to a player and lack of pressure. If the G's can apply pressure the ball never gets into those danger areas and Cardozo never gets off a shot and San Ho gets maybe two of their goals.

Yes and yes. This is all im trying to say.

Technically the guy is embarrassing, no doubt, but he can defend.

However, Im questionable on Gaul. For his size, and from what ive seen, he doesn't seem to use his body very well. Im not so sure if CB is where he will work out on this roster...

Has Gaul at center back been tried yet? I thought he's mostly been wing back.

But yeah, in fairness to Lopes it was way, way worse back there before he showed up.

C'mon, Gs, make Omar your third DP already!

Lets use this thread for the game against Tortaham as well.
Hey Aaron, since I wont be using my tix for this fantastic waste of a fucking match, can I apply the credit towards next years season tickets?

Yes... I think twice this season. As pointed out in an earlier post, he has the size to play CB but does not use it. Against SJ, he was punked repeatedly by the Cabbage Patch Kid and then Alan Gordon.

Gaul's crossing from the left flank looks to be pretty good and he is far better than Dunivant in that respect. He just needs to work on his positioning in the LB role. Besides, there aren't many capable lefties in the league and Dunivant isn't getting any younger.

If you're not creepin', you're not trying...
