Not sure where else to post it but I have been trying to figure out the dip in performance by Luquinhas. The only thing I could up with is that he has been playing nonstop since last years summer break. The winter break cannot come fast enough for him
He is not as good as that first ten game stretch suggested. Look at this G+A per/90 for us. It is still better than it was in any season for Legia in a slightly worse league. This is who he is. Ideally, he is your 2nd or 3rd best attacking player, not your MVP. A talisman up front or at the #10 spot, complimented by Morgan and Luquinhas - now you're on to something.

Yeah kinds crazy can't recall anyone else dipping in effectiveness so hard. I think the playing season has been long for him, summer a bit hard and style of play, and teams learning him a bit more
5G 3A on the year but 1 assist in the last 3 months
He went from G+A every 180 to ~360
really wanted him to get the goal last week.
Agree he should be 3rd or so best attacker which by having more danger opens things up for him.
Maybe if Omir or Harper or Duncan get into a bit of form it opens things up for him.
Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

So much for "the most talented player since Thierry Henry".
He has drawn a punch of PKs, however, even during the dry spell.

he also probably realized that he continued dribbling the way he was doing at the beginning of the season that he will get hurt. teams were going after him.

His back injury is worse than is being talked about. Apparently not something he can get surgery on and does go away with time.

Talked to someone with the team yesterday.

ugh
heck we should rest him for a few weeks if it would help and just bring him back in the playoffs although he might be out of form
We need Omir, Clark, or Harper to get going more

If its an injury - rest him!
But I think it has to be something else. No brainer otherwise.

I was going to say the biggest contributor is just fatigue but a lingering injury makes just as much sense. I'd much rather rest him the next two games and have him fresh for the playoffs, we're at very little risk of losing a home game seed.
Part of it I think is also that teams have learned about him a little bit more. Defenders do not try to tackle him on the dribble anymore, they give him a little bit of space. He is still an effective dribbler, but not leaving guys in the dust or racking up yellow cards like he was the first few games.
I think everyone knew scoring bangers from 20 yards out wasn't sustainable long term.

3rd seed vs 4th is important but not like he's helping us make it happen. If he's hurt, definitely rest him for one or both games.I was going to say the biggest contributor is just fatigue but a lingering injury makes just as much sense. Then he'll be like a new signing in the playoffs or in 2023.

Pretty weird that Luquinhas lost out on Newcomer of the Year to Daniel Edelman. Who could have thought that back in June?
(Of course, Edelman winning it is both great and sad...)

MLS defenders really kicked the (good) shit out of lil' Luqi, I hope he's preparing to take his vengeance.
RED. BULL. OUT.

Why is it sad? Edelman looks like he could be a top level MLS midfielder.
If Luqui swapped the timing of his hot and cold stretches he probably would have won it

Sad because our best signing was an academy product...
Although shouldn't Morgan have won Newcomer?
